Simone Sozza has been appointed for Inter vs. Roma, but the Giallorossi fans are unhappy with AIA’s decision as the referee was born in Milano and lives in Lombardy.

AIA has announced the referees for matchday 34 and Sozza has been appointed for the big match on Saturday at San Siro. Many Roma fans are protesting AIA’s decision on social media. They believe it’s unfair that a match official born in Milano is allowed to oversee an Inter match against an opponent from a different region.

Sozza was born in Milan on August 19, 1987 and is regarded as one of the most promising young referees in Italy. Despite protests from Roma fans, his appointment for the game is legitimate as AIA doesn’t consider relevant the place where a referee was born but only the section to which he belongs.

Sozza is from the AIA section of Seregno, just outside Milan, so he is still entitled to referee an Inter game.
