It is not just a DSTV matter.
In business a product may either be pushed or pulled. or Both. A push market is a sellers market (sellers
have the power) a pull market is a buyers market
Nollywood came to prominence by a high push factor which meant the marketers determined the content based on their own agenda and interpretation of the market. Then the main marketers were the Alaba caucus
Now we have the internet, You Tube and many other platforms and so the dominance of Alaba caucus is diminished many people do not buy DVDs any longer .
It is now a pull market rather than a push market. It is easy to make a short skit and blow without going through Alaba caucus.
With that scenario what has become manifest is the Alaba caucus are majorly businessmen with little knowledge of content production. Much of the content of the early day Nollyywood was B grade cheesy rubbish which we endured because there was no alternative. Now with the internet there is enough content to watch non stop for years and we have choices. Having said that it would be foolish to believe we have arrived or that Nigerian movies will dominate Africa for ever without upgrading the quality of the story lines.
All those formats of secret prince acting like a poor man or ritual money etc are tired. That problem is still there with Lagos and Asaba . We should be more worried about other African countries using the internet better than we do

They can move to bornu or adamawa for all I care..

Nollywood industry have done more harm than good to ndi Igbo,they have dented our image and have painted a negative image of ndi Igbo..

They have rubbed our reputation and integrity in the mud..

They should go away for good.
