The Risk Of Submitting Only Original Documents For A U.k Visa by Tonex(m): 9:42pm On Aug 07, 2007 |
Hi nairalanders. I have a serious observation to make that is quite disturbing. When applying for a student visa to go to the U.K you have to submit all your original documents of all your credentials, certificate of acceptance, bank statements, e.t.c. It may be ok for some people, but i am a realist and i don't think it is safe at all. If anything happens to any of the documents such as it being misplaced, will the embassy take responsibility for it. I would like to get people's views on this, because i believe that there has to be a better way of ensuring our documents are legitimate. Thanks. |

Have you ever had any report that the embassies misplaced someone's original documents? |

Submiiting original documents facilitates easy processing . You cannot be applying for a student visa and you submit photocopiues of your credentials. I have not heard a case where the embassy misplaces documents. The closest is they retain some of your documents and call you to provide original documents for proper identification. |

Dont worry man they are not going be misplaced thats why they have recognised agent doing the collect and return. beside worst come to worst they can always for instance write to waec to reissue or your university to re-issue once it lost and in as much as you have a record in the school , then its nothing then if you don't want to submit original copies of any document you have a chance to certify the photocopy in the magistrate court along side a sworn affidavit but its advisable to give the real hard copy |

I think it's a valid concern and what happens in some other countries is that you take the documents in question to a registered official agent who will inspect them to certify that they are authentic and they are then immediately returned to you so there is no chance of them being misplaced. I have lost documents with DHL and whilst they were very apologetic and offered me financial compensation that of course didn't help me replace the documents in question the loss of which caused me a considerable amount of inconvenience. The fact of the matter is that even with the best will in the world, your documents can be misplaced and getting them replaced especially in Nigeria is no easy task. |

Im really confused now!. I submitted my documents for a student visa on the 3rd of august at the vfs office. The problem is that i only got to submit the photocopies of my credentials. All other douments were originals . The reason being that i required them for series of upcoming tests and interviews. I did not want to hold back cos of time constraint and i certainly did not want to put all my "eggs in one basket". If i end up getting a credible job i dont mind staying back but if not id want to go for my masters. i just want to spread my options. I'd really like to know the probability of my getting a visa. |

If u are by chance called 4 an interveiw, make sure u go with the originals and when the official asks if u have any additional documents to add, Give them the originals 4 sighting, and explain honestly why you didnt submit them alongside ur application innitially. OK! |
