A football player identified as Abdul Yaro reportedly slumped and died while playing football in Kogi state.

An eyewitness account revealed that Yaro was Playing a friendly match when he suddenly slumped and died on the pitch.

Details of the incident is not available at the moment but Salemgists learnt that the incident happened today, May 8 in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital.

A young man identified as Noah Itodo who was the deceased teammate said Abdul Yaro is a promising young footballer.

He said:

“I played a couple of times along with him and never did i hear him complain about anything rather than attackers not converting our chances.

“While we were opponents, I remember I play him hard a times and he’ll look at me and be like “senior man no be me and u again na.

“We weren’t too close except we saw on d football pitch bt I’ll say he was a gentle, young and prolific footballer.

We’ll miss you but rest with the maker who knows all, both good and bad. Same football that gave me joy turned into sorrow before meRest in power brother”
