An All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial aspirant in Ebonyi, Chief Edward Nkwegu has pledged to reform the state's educational curriculum to suit current needs if elected governor.

Nkwegu who was runner-up in the 2015 gubernatorial election in the state on the Labour party's platform made the pledge in Abakaliki while declaring his interest to contest for the seat in the 2023 general elections.

The APC Stalwart said he would ensure that the state's educational system reflected the enteprenual needs of the society to make the youths self reliant and contribute meaningfully to the society.

"I will also ensure high moral standard in schools to promote core educational values and reduce crimes among youths," he said.

He noted that he would ensure job creation and use his acumen as an established enterprenuer to stimulate the state's economy for the benefit of all.

"I will enhance the micro, small and medium enterprises which is the engine of every economy and greatest employer of labour.

"I will also enhance the economy through rapid industrialisation, agricultural transformation and wealth creation," he said.

Nkwegu pledged to build on the legacies of the past and present administrations in the state and vigorously pursue the mandates of the APC.

"I will provide functional health system in the state and enhance the well-being of the youths, elderly and vulnerable," he said.

Chief Stanley Ogah, the Leader of Ebonyi Professionals which purchased Nkwegu's nomination form said that he was well-suited to provide the economic and social needs of the people.

Ogah said that the group decided to purchase the nomination form due to Nkwegu's pedigree as an accomplished enterprenuer whose economic and humanitarian activities had helped in the state's development.

"We have x-rayed the capabilities of the aspirants jostling for the position and marked Nkwegu for his vision and astute management of manpower and resources," he said.

Mrs Fidelia Mbam assured Nkwegu of the support of the female folk as his philanthropic activities have benefited women immensely.

Party stalwarts across the three senatorial zones of the state affirmed their support for Nkwegu's aspiration and enjoined him to be focused and resilient.
