England blow with Eddie Nketiah and Callum Hudson-Odoi both ‘set to switch allegiance to Ghana for 2022 Qatar World Cup’ EDDIE NKETIAH and Callum Hudson-Odoi are set to switch from England to Ghana ahead of the 2022 World Cup, reports suggest. That is according to Football London, who claim that both players have been convinced to link up with the African nation, for which they are eligible to play. Arsenal ace Nketiah, 22, leads the Three Lions' Under-21 all-time scoring list with 16 goals in 17 appearances but has never played for the senior team. Chelsea star Hudson-Odoi, 21, on the other hand, has amassed three senior caps. They all came in 2019 as Gareth Southgate dealt with an injury crisis. A Fifa rule change in 2020 allows players with no more than three international appearances to change their allegiance if those caps came before their 21st birthday. Therefore, both players can complete the switch, which would boost their hopes of playing in the winter's World Cup in Qatar. England manager Gareth Southgate has plenty of options to choose from for his attack. But it's still a blow for Southgate as he will have a smaller pool of fine talent to pick from, especially if he is dealt with some last-minute injuries. It will be a huge boost for Ghana manager Otto Addo, who would have a much stronger side for the competition. they just want to use Ghana to go have a feel of the world cup...too bad Africa will never learn....that's how Kelvin prince boateng Ghana.....left after the word cup in 2010...shola ameobi at 33 years made NIGERIA world cup squad in 2014 after snubbing NIGERIA years back when he was playing well for Newcastle and expecting England call up that never came... dear Ghana use the boys that qualified you....these two average players can't win you the world cup...so why bring them  |
