The House of Representatives on Wednesday passed an amendment to the Electoral Act 2022 to enable statutory delegates to participate in political parties’ congresses and primaries.
For those who want to understand more about this amendment.
Let's break it down to the layman's understanding......

According to Section 84 (cool of the Electoral Amendment Act, a political party that adopts the system of indirect primaries for the choice of its candidates shall clearly outline in its constitution and rules the procedure for the democratic election of delegates.

This, according to the Act is to vote at the convention, congress or meeting, in addition to statutory delegates already prescribed in the constitution of the party

Statutory delegates include: councillors, local government chairmen and their vices, political party chairmen in all the 774 LGAs, state and federal lawmakers.

Others are: Governors and their Deputies, President and Vice President, political parties’ National Working Committee members, state party chairmen and secretaries.

The amendment will allow statutory delegates, in addition to the delegates elected by various political parties at congresses and conventions to elect candidates for various political offices.

Nigeria will be great in our lifetime.
God bless Nigeria.

Meanwhile.........

If these thieves could attend to issues of national importance the way they attend to political issues that affect them, this country would have been better than the Garden of Eden.

Mumu people; immediately I read it I pointed it out to my people here that, this would hinder they themselves who made the law from voting and severely interfere with the elections it’ll make the whole thing go to court and those votes by statutory delegates would be null and void which will lead to a recount.

Luckily for them 8 days to the primaries they finally saw it lol.

The same thing I said about 84 (12) you cannot disenfranchise those office holders also there is an existing judgement of a high court suspending or nullifying that section

I would have expected them to also delete it but you know in Nigeria the rich especially politicians or politically exposed people are always stubborn.

I was a lawyer for one of such people the man kept trying to break the law at every turn, I had to run away before he jeopardize my good name and my career for me

If it is a bill to move the country forward, it will spend decades before it gets passed after watering it down and getting several cuts out of it.

But ordinary to vote for primary, them don pass am under one day.

If this is true, I don't think it's bad. How can we place our future and future of our children in the hands of few people that will probably vote according to the highest bidder.
