Most uncles in the village take advantage of this to extort large amount of money from their late brother's children before they are allow to bury them in the family compound.

When their late father was alive, everything was fine between his children and uncles in the village.But as soon as he dies and they transport his corpse from the city back to the village,his brothers will be demanding huge amount of money before they are allow to bury his corpse in the land own by their great grandfather.
The youth in the village will also want some gifts before they will allow his corpse to be brought out of the ambulance.
The uncles will also refuse to give the children land to build houses.

More so,if someone was born in the city and he/she move back to the village,the villagers will see him/her as an alien and as a subject of mockery.Most especially if he/she goes back poor.

I know about South and eastern part of Nigeria.But I don't know of other places.

Please change your heading to begin with because not all Nigerians take their parent to the village for burial. Some are buried in the city, others in other countries depending on the wishes of the deceased. The idea of using a certain phenomenon to generalize a thing has to stop. This leads to poor stereotype
