Like I said earlier,this conundrum wouldn't go away!!!@Dlee1 all the quotations you made is true but you should ask yourself why two different boxes that are very similar with little (or no difference in functionality) would make one come with "high-end specs" (4950) while the other is just "mid-range"?I can tell you that it's because of the unneccessary heavy modifications in its UI...can you mention a function of the 4950 that's alien to 4922 aside the latest autoroll thingy?My point is...all those specs you mentioned might really not count.It's either strong made poor hardware for 4950 (tuner,RF) then corrected it with topnotch specs and vice versa for both boxes;either way,they win,we consumers are the ones throwing our money at them.Bros you're one of the finest here,no see what pv has caused us-unneccessary arguement.Then the most important of all,don't VEX for me biko...FTA rules,one love!!!

The thing is that Apstar don't have Channels with strong signal quality like Al Jazerra on IS20, so that is why I can't guarantee success with 1.8m but it will surely pickup good few channels, about 50%. In my area 2.4m should give you 70-80% of the channels there. At the moment the most important tp there should be the one that houses AXNs and SONYs but it rises about falls 3 or 4 times a month. When it falls to its limit which is 60% on 4922a even 2.4m struggles that is why I can't really push people to use 1.8m unless they don't mind the trouble.

try this Oromia tp 3750h 2000. its strong, I got 81% on 1.8

Oromia is not on Apstar, it's on Thaicom. For Apstar you can use 3757H 4440.

any installer around nnewi should please say something and tell me what I can get with this combination of srt 4922

I disagree with what you said about SRT4950H. I didn't quote you to argue with you but to make a little explanation about the two mentioned receivers. I did mentioned about the specifications of the two receivers two years back or so. According to Strong-technologies, SRT4950H has a processor SP1502 (32-bit) clocking with the speed of 667MHz while SRT4922 series has a processor 850DMIP (32-bit) clocking with the speed 550MHz. Compare the two processor and tell me the one that is better between the two. SRT4950H has a DDR3 (memory) ROM with 2GB size while SRT4922 series has a DDR3 with 128MB, now compare the two ROM and tell me the one that is better. When it comes to blind scanning between the two receiver, you will notice that 50H is faster simple because the processor of 50H is faster and has a bigger memory size which will accommodate a lot of apps...it will be difficult to see 50H shouting memory full the way 22 series does. SRT4922 series has only one edge over SRT4950H which is the tunner. 22 series was seen as a better receiver just because of its firmware which was written by WizKids and Sameer009 which was performing well from the onset, you know two heads are better than one. @geman If your dish is motorized, you can actually have Smile of a Child on Apstar as long as you have 2.4m and above. It's a very sensitive channel to have, you could have to sacrifice the signal quality of other channels to have it. It actually falls a little bit off the rest, I mean if you have motorized setup on Apstar with maximum signal quality on other channels, you will have to move your Motor slightly to maximize TBN, that is actually why it's hard on static setup. If you want it back on your setup, you need a Motor.

Take it easy big man, I quoted you because you said it was close to impossible but I had it once for few months before I decided to discard it because with it I couldn't get good signal on the west side of a balanced dish. So I know what I am talking about infact I broke the news of the availability of those channels with pictures the very first day they were added to Apstar.
Then I was getting 57 - 58%, I think it cracks at 54% or thereabouts. I mean on 2.4m mesh, you see my brother impossibility is nothing.

This forum seems to be interesting again with the big boys making a comeback. It's what we all know have been praying for.

..you are right! but i may add my own point of view!4950H is only a software manipulations by strong technology to outweigh other old boxes like 4922etc..4950H only outweighs 4922 with the 2Gb ddr3 memory both box has only 8mbyte flash Rom,but with 2Gb memory on 4950H it has only 8 favorite channel grouping and 8000 programmable channels while 4922 with 10000 programmable channels and 16 favorite channel grouping with ddr3:128mb..according to Strong technology,4950H is not 3d compliant where 4922 support 3d via HDMI..ethernet port,lnb loop out is absent on 4950H..that explains 4922 tuner better than 4950H..aside from autoroll any box can autoroll with s/w modifications.. if old strong mpeg2 dvbs only receiver can autoroll eg during the old days of nagra..why not 4922 now!they claim better IPTV on 4950H than any other strong receiver..but s/w can fix any box for better IPTV....and this bring me to this,when will strong technology build an all in one box, at least a receiver that will beat others flawlessly..they won't, cos it is their own market gimmick....remove lnb port now next release add rf out and antenna in/ av output with lnb port.. with exception of Ethernet port! and only one USB 2.0 compliant but will add 2 USB 2.0 port next release..is it not funny! but 4922 is better!
