An Introduction-to-blogging – Where Do You Start? by moonknight(m): 9:52am On May 13, 2022 |
Online information is usually looked upon with skepticism. Due to the nature of the platform, it is as easy to post online news about something highly technical as it is for someone to post a flier in a coffee shop around the corner of your house. A lot of bloggers post information in niche segments explaining how to do something technical in that field but this information is usually derived from other material online and in most cases gets degraded due to derivation. Most writers writing online information are not experts in the area that they write about. Online news is mostly sourced from articles already available online or from databases and encyclopedias like Wikipedia. This makes it very important for a user to be aware of the reliability of the source of online information he is depending upon. Websites like Google is a credible source to search for online information but it is not an authority that can be depended upon. Google and other search engines merely search for information on the web and display the results for you to begin your research. Once you have fine-tuned your search results, you should start looking into the credibility of the source of the information. Never rely upon someone quoting someone else, as a rule, all reporters will report the source of their story and if you have to write on it, always research the source instead of stories derived from it. Even while you quote a piece of online information in a paper you are required to quote its source, it is the originating source you are expected to quote in your footnote. Derivative works in any form of art do not carry weight and the same rule applies to online news. Online news is mostly available for free, however, for those who need a credible source to quote in research material paid and professionally verified information is also available online. While it is extremely difficult to verify the source of all the information you come across on the web on blogs and other sites, you do not have to worry about the same when you are paying for the information. A lot of people offer free online news covering the basics and set a price for more specific online information. Remember, always verify the source of your online news before you rely on it. There are a variety of reasons why people write blogs. Blogging is a method to deliver a message on the world wide web to others that are interested in what they have to say. Some blog purely for pleasure Why You Need Pet Insurance In India - to journal their experience regarding a specific subject such as a hobby, movie reviews, or travel adventures. Others are passionate to send out a message to the masses - perhaps on a health subject, humanitarian effort, or a self-growth topic. Finally, there are many businesses built using the power of blogging, which has proven to be a very lucrative venture for some. Blogging for Fun Blogging purely for the enjoyment factor can be very easy and fun. There is no pressure to deliver top-notch content and no need to be careful to not offend others. One can simply just state what is on their mind about a specific topic and see what kind of response others give back. Whether you want to be like the "shock jock" Howard Stern to see whose feathers you can ruffle or maybe you want to provide a motivational, uplifting message to others, the possibilities are endless. Choose a specific niche topic, create a blog site, and let the creativity and fun begin. Blogging to Deliver Information Blogging can be a way for someone to share their experience, education, and tips for others to learn from. Perhaps someone battling cancer wants to write their daily blog about their treatments, recovery, experience, what they learn throughout the process, and emotional ups and downs. This can prove to be both therapeutic to the individual blogging and engaging for others reading. There may even be someone going on the same journey that just wants to bond with someone on the other side of the globe going through the same experience. Another platform may be a person's experience and lessons learned during wedding preparations. There are a lot of people getting married every day around the world and so there is a common bond for people to share. For example, blogger John Yeo started a blog about his experience leading up to his wedding and continued after the wedding. Blogging for Money Very seldom does a blog turn into a money-making venture without a focused plan and a diligent effort. However, there are probably lots of people online making an income, at least a side income, with blogging. It is not as simple as building a blog website and putting content on it to get the money flowing. The content needs to be on a topic that is highly sought after and draws in a lot of online readers. Once that is achieved, there are possibilities for income streams for a blog including from advertisers and selling related products. Selling banner or sidebar ad space or incorporating Google AdSense on your blog for your visitors to click through to the advertiser's website is one way to make money. Also, you can sell your products or services on the blog. Additionally, you can find other's products that fit the niche you have focused on that will pay you a fee if your visitors purchase what they have to offer. Although blogging is fairly easy to set up and write, determining the purpose of your blog at the beginning will prove to be of extreme value as you progress. Whether you are setting out to simply have fun, to deliver a message that you are passionate about, or to make money with your blog, you have to enjoy yourself and learn as you go along. You'll find that you learn a little bit from almost every resource you choose. Make learning and implementing what you learn a consistent part of your blogging activity and you will be shocked by your improvement and results over a short time. |
