The largest cold-pressed coconut oil factory in Africa has been completed in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, and will be commissioned tomorrow with a capacity to process 300,000 coconuts per shift to produce 66 metric tonnes of coconut oil daily. Jobs created, Nigeria wins. The state had planted 2 million fast yielding hybrid coconut trees on an 11,000 hectare of land in a swampland across Mkpat Enin, Ikot Abasi and Eastern Obolo LGAs for the raw materials. It’s a good development. I just hope it will still be standing in 5 years. That was how Imoke got some lands for Pinnapple plantation in Cross River. Today, neither the pineapples or even the plantains around it can be found...I really hope the next government manages it well... 1 Like |

This big building just to mount conveyor, boiler and a press. Coconut oil extraction belongs to the cottage industry, the government should have provided spurs for individuals to establish small plants, they will spread out and provide a robust economy for the industry.
