Top five (5)tips to be a successful International student

Basically, the primary aim of international students all over the world to study abroad is to get a top-quality education, visit and travel to a new region, meet new people, learn skills, and obtain a degree. Others want to take advantage of intercultural communications, experience different styles of teaching, and discover career opportunities abroad.

However, it is also very important to give your brain a break and do something that you enjoy. The best suggestion is to make the most of your study time and plan to give yourself consistent time to study every day. How would you make the most of your overseas experience and integrate yourself into the local culture? In this article, you would get the top five tips to be a successful international student to help your stay abroad become a memorable one!

1. Find your accommodation before you arrive at school
choosing where you want to live is important, arrange your accommodation before your arrival. College students have a wide choice when it comes to accommodation, some students choose to stay in on-campus accommodation, while some could choose to rent in the private sector, on-campus accommodation is always in demand and can be quite expensive. All universities have halls of residence, basically apartments of 4 to 8 students with a private shared kitchen and bedroom, living room and bathroom. On-campus accommodation must be paid in two installments, in September and February.

2. Getting a menial job
Getting a part-time job is not easy in most countries like Ireland, most jobs such as bartending and waitressing require the applicants to have a minimum of one year of experience. However, if you are successful in finding a part-time job, the minimum wage in Ireland is €9.55 per hour and students are legally allowed to work no more than 20 hours per week during term time and no more than 40 hours per week during holidays.

3. Socialize and network with people
While you're in school, the people around you can help build your connections. Develop meaningful relationships with your professors, classmates, climates and peers. To some students, this may seem difficult, but it needn't be. Step out of your comfort zone and introduce yourself to your classmates who sit next to you in class.
Even in situations like when it comes to starting your job hunting, the relationship you built with people you met while studying abroad could be a great asset toward fulfilling your employment goals.
Save money by opening a local bank account
One of the worst parts about studying abroad has to be the conversion and ATM fees you have to pay, just for the privilege of changing your money into a different currency. Open a local bank account as soon as possible then take the maximum daily limits of your home and shuttle it straight back into the local bank account. By boosting your local bank account balance, you will only pay the ATM fees once and you will be able to spend money in the local currency. When you need more cash, do the same thing instead of just taking out twenty at a time.

4. Saving
One of the ways to save is by cooking for yourself, and mastering some simple kitchen skills and recipes if you don't know them.
Another way to save is by lowering your standard. When you get to your host location, you may need to buy basic household items like towels, sheets and so on. Now as a college student the best way is to opt for inexpensive household goods so you can save for yourself.

5. If you don't know just ask
As an international student, it is completely normal to be unsure about certain things in an aspect of your life while studying abroad. In these cases, don't hesitate to ask questions to resolve your concern. Always reach out to the university's international school services advisors in your institution to provide first-round information and help for international students in your school. Have in mind that you can also ask people around you! If you ever needed help on or off-campus such as finding your way around, setting up public transport, or figuring out your daily life concerns you can always ask someone nearby for more information.
