Why did Peter Obi hide funds in the Carribbean through his daughter name with the intention of hiding his ownership of the bank account and pay a firm in Monaco that specialises in hiding ownership of assets to have a foreign director pretend to be the owner of the said account. Why did he not just walk into any bank branch in UK, Canada, Netherlands, or USA and just open a bank account in his name and report it in his assets declaration form. Owning a foreign account is not illegal. Only criminals, tax dodgers and people with something to hide would do that. Those banks give very little, if any interest on deposits, making such deposits less of a money making venture but one of secrecy. The modern day equivalent of Swiss Bank accounts. 10 Likes 1 Share |

And then I realised it didn't make any sense, especially when he could have just walked into any bank branch in France, UK, Sweden, USA and even South Africa and just open a bank account. If one must be sincere, thieves are brilliant people, but utilize brilliance in negative ventures and ways. Stashing money in save havens is a way of avoiding taxes and repatriation. And using names of other people only secures the money better, from being traced to name of ACTUAL owner. Taking such loots to UK, Canada, USA or France is not safe for thieves, cos money can still be easily repatriated in whatever name it was stashed. |
