Where has all the money budgeted for maintenance over the years entered? What did the NPA do with it?

This is a very serious issue. If the quay walls collapse, that means Tin can Island, which is reclaimed land from the sea, will be fully submerged; the Apapa port may also suffer the same fate.

A lack of periodic maintenance of most public infrastructure has always been our weakness.

I am sure that the companies that built those two ports gave guidelines, and timing, on how they should be maintained regularly, but we chose not to do so until they are about to collapse. Smh

We are talking to lending agencies... but WE DO NOT HAVE INTENTIONS OF BORROWING. The World Bank has come again to offer loans. Really?... just like that... they noticed the same time the port is collapsing. My question is what happened to the monies collected at the port?.... monies that was supposed finance maintenance and development? How is it the companies that lease the port be responsible for it's development? Six months extention then the companies may have their lease renewed.... permanently. Some people need to leave this earth in smoke.

Considering the amount of revenue generated from the port , we shouldn't be talking about borrowing..the port can sufficiently fund itself.

Let them collapse this one also so that they can build private ones so the rich can keep getting richer. The populace can fully recognise those impoverished and the very few benefiting from the corrupt system. They will surely pay with interest someday.

See thieves.
Despite the humongous revenue derived from the Ports yearly and money budgeted for maintenance that they refuse to do. They rather than embezzle the whole thing.
Now they're trying to arm twist the operators to fund the renovation process before renewing their license. Operators that pay heavily for their concession rights.
What a fantastically corrupt entity

When an infrastructure is over-used, wear, tear and collapse is eventually inevitable.

Since Politicians have refused to let other ports in the country work optimally to ease the burden on Tin can port, for reasons best known to them, let the port collapse make everybody kuku suffer.

I dey always wander why it is so. The funny thing is that, Niger Deltans might be blaming Yorubas for not making Warri, Onne and Calabar work, but no one will blame the clueless Jonathan for not doing anything for 6 good years about the ports in the South South.

Even if he didn't make Warri and Calabar function effectively, he should have made sure Onne function effectively and is cost effective.

With how powerful a Nigerian president is, GEJ had no excuse for me. The President of Nigeria is a mini god.

Just like Buhari, they have nothing to do with been a president.

Former President Jonathan was always on Dutch highness. Too much ogogoro!

Tincan Island is situated on the Badagry creek it is still about 3 to 5 Nautical miles to the sea via Elebute channel. The chances of it being submerged and also Apapa are very slim. The issue is that lack of maintenance has made the quay walls probe to normal erosion.
