Content marketing is not only about creating attractive content; it is also about creating content that has value for your audience. Your aim for content marketing should be to provide value for your target audience rather than selling your products. Content marketing is a unique digital marketing strategy because it helps build trust between brands/businesses and their target market. When you run promotional ads, they attract potential customers to purchase your products, but this is usually a one-off purchase. Content marketing becomes a process where your audiences are attracted to your content because it is relevant to them. With time, they anticipate your content and become loyal customers.

There are various ways to create valuable and relevant content but first, understand your target audience. When you understand their wants, likes, dislikes, interests, patterns, and problems, you are better positioned to develop valuable content for them. What is valuable content? It can create quality awareness and generate interest which grows into a strong desire that ultimately needs action (purchase) using the AIDA principle.

Contents on tips, strategies, problems, or solutions are great for attracting and providing value to your audiences. So, your content marketing is successful when viewers think of value before cost as a result of the trust built over time with the content you share. When they think that there is value in your content, they will be willing to pay for your solutions - products or services.

An example of a successful content marketing campaign for a ‘Tooth Paste Manufacturing Company’ is described below. The first set of posts can be on ‘Effects of Tooth Cavities on Adults’. This will attract people to view or read your content while still providing them with valuable information. The next set of posts can be ‘Causes of The Tooth Cavity'. Then you can publish content on ‘Tips on Preventing Tooth Cavities'. At this point, your audience trusts your content and is hooked on your content style. This is when you start to market your products, stating how your products can solve all the problems you have listed in the previous posts.

Contents used in content marketing can range from art to pictures, videos, or articles. The quality and credibility of your content are very important because you are trying to build trust with your existing and potential customers. Giving the audience false information is the wrong way to market your content. Customers are getting smarter, and they will verify the information you post, so it is best to publish credible content.
