Hello everyone, just wondering what's the link between Ghana and Nigeria, because I've seen some threads about them here and it seems to have a rivalry so I would like to understand what's the link between these two countries while they don't even share any boundary. Maybe these Nolly and Gollywood things make them be closer

I think it's more like sibling rivalry considering our common colonial past; the fact we both have English as our national language and also because in many respects we're the two leading countries in West Africa. Why disagreements and arguements often get heated with foul language used is b'cos it's done over the internet where peeps can spout nonsense under the cover of anonymity the internet provides.

Another reason for the bickering is that Nigeria is obviously bigger than Ghana in many respects, but most Proud Ghanaians would never agree to this being true even if they know it to be. But what Nigerians tend to forget is that quantity does not necessarily mean quality. And in some cases less quantity can deliver better quality if it's used by fewer people.

Oh!! and the football rivalry as well. But arguements on football issues are not normally as devisive and explosive as issues concerning culture and economics, primarily b'cos with football it's in black and white with no grey areas- you either win or lose. Sadly, Nigeria has been losing a lot lately .
