So many people want to buy property but they don't have knowledge about land measurement in Nigeria.

If you are planning to buy a property you must be familiar with the terms use in land measurement in order not to be cheated.

How is Land Measured in Nigeria?
In Nigeria, the standard land measurement is in Feet, Metres, Acres and Hectares.
The basic unit for land measurement is
1foot= 0.3048metres
1metre= 3.28 feet.
Though, there are several factors that affect land measurement such as government policy, economic factor, social factor, family issue, inheritance, etc.

Standard Land Measurement for a Plot in Nigeria.

A Plot: In Lagos, a standard size for a plot of land is 18mx 36m (metres), 60x120ft(feet),and 648sqm though most developer have reduced it to 600sqm. While in some states, a plot is 50x100ft (feet) which is 500sqm.
For the benefit of those who can't afford to buy a plot of land.

Half plot is also sold and is measured by 9mx36m or 18mx18m (metres), 30x120ft or 60x60ft (feet) while the square metres is 324 sqm and 250sqm in some states.

Acre: An acre consist of 6plots. When you want to buy large parcel of land, it is always measure in acres. To simply it. It is 18mx200m (metres), 60x660ft(feet),and 4,046sqm.

Hectares: it is larger than acres. It consist of two and half acres of land, approximately 15plots of land in Nigeria.
It is 100mx100m (metres),328x328ft(feet) which amount to 10,000 square metres.

Whenever you are ready to buy a land don't hesitate to ask the person in charge about the actual size of the land, because they can tell you is a plot and it won't be up to 648sqm, 600sqm or 60x120ft. But having the knowledge of the land measurement will really help you with the price to pay for such land.
