Cpl Ebu Gambo, a Nigerian soldier with the Joint Border Patrol Team (JBPT), has been reportedly killed by Benin Republic security operatives on Wednesday.

According to reports, the incident happened when the Benin Republic Security operatives attacked Kabo, a border town in the Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State.

A police officer, identified as Inspector Olaniyi Akintunde was also shot during the incident.

Both Nigerian security operatives were allegedly attacked by their Benin Republic counterparts after intercepting four motorcycles carrying sacks of foreign parboiled rice.

Is Baruten a hot spot? Oga if you don't know anything sharap, Baruten is part of Kwara state and it's normal that the majority of the security forces will come from that region.

Heard the soldiers were chasing some Nigerian smugglers to Benin Border, when the smugglers got to the border they were asked by the Benin soldiers the problem.

They said they were being chased by Naija soldiers, So the Benin soldiers told them not to be afraid, shortly after Naija soldiers got there and they said they wanted the smugglers, the Benin soldiers tried talking to the Naija soldiers to chill and let them settle the matter. The Naija soldiers didn't answer opened fire on Benin soldier, gun didn't enter the Benin soldier, that one vex opened fire on that dead one, shot the second one too.
