This is all shades of wrong... Thousands of people's livelihood destroyed just like that How will their dependants live? They'll say robbers are increasing.

Government must find other sources of income for them

Which state do you reside in Nigeria, if you live in Lagos state in Nigeria, you will support the ban.
Motorcyclists are now a menace in the society now, 90% of the riders are armed with either knife, gun, hamlet's and jazz.
They don't have drivers license, home address, guardian, land lord's.
They commit a crime and they can't be traced .
They commit accident, assault, Roberry etc.

Each rider should go back to there state of origin and find betters things to do there.
Everybody cannot live in Lagos state
Go to Ogun state, delta , kogi, Kwara, plateau, nassarawa etc and make a living.

find source of income for them?...So it is normal that people just migrate into lagos without where to live, and engage in criminality as a means of livelihood.they can easily take their bikes back to where they came from and engage it there.

O I see that it's only other tribes that ride okada in Lagos. There are no Yoruba okada riders? Even undergraduates rise it to pay their fees

I won't support scrapping the motorcycle just like that immediately. but would suggest:
1. the Lagos Govt should ask every individual who owns any seized motorcycle to come forward,
a. present their identity card, either voters card or National identity card.
b. present the Motorcycle license registration papers.
c. residential address with contract signed with the landlord if renting an apartment
d. if you are a landlord, present your original C of O given by the government authority.
e. enter their information in the system and take their finger prints, possibly their DNA for future use, though will take God's intervention to manifest in this country. Also apply to other types of motorist in the state until everyone is in the system, gradually crimes will be reduce if not totally eradicated.
f. pay certain amount of money for fine as a warning and never ride within the prohibited areas until the ban reaches other parts of Lagos
2. Those who can't provide necessary information after the stipulated date can have their motorcycles auctioned or crushed.
However, before releasing, auctioning, crushing these motorcycles, they must be check properly inside out for possible weapons and I am sure they will find one or two AKS and knives under those seat.
My 2 cents.

And government can't do registration to select genuine riders from miscreants?

Despite cabs and buses being used by kidnappers and ritualists, have they been banned Or their buses crushed
