Few tips that can help in achieving a band of 7.5-9.0 in IELTS as a total novice!

The reading section in IELTS is a very tricky but simple part of the the Test, if only you are armed with the tips I want to share with you!

# Build your Vocabulary!
Your success or failure in getting 7.5-9.0 band in the Reading section is totally dependent on the amount of words you have in your vocabulary. The words you know and are familiar with in English language will give further room to easily identify synonymous words when reading the passages in the reading section in IELTS.

The people at IELTS usually finds a piece in the writing, and make questions out of it. The questions are usually synonymous words or phrases in the piece of the writing.

How should this be handled?

There are just too many synonymous words in English language and it is highlights unlikely that the same ones will come up again. This makes studying past IELTS papers puts you at a disadvantage.

It is important to practice IELTS past papers but not all the time, rather build the habits of reading blogs, magazine, books, materials that captures your interest.

While doing this habitual practice, keep record of new words, this is where the use of Journals/notes comes in. When you see a new word, underline it. Try to guess the meaning and later check up to confirm the meaning online or with a dictionary.

To each of the new word write the meaning, synonyms and example sentences.

This practice can be done for 30mins- 1hr daily. By doing this consistently, overtime you will have a robust vocabulary.

PS: we can create a community for that if you're interested.
