If you've been politically observant, you would notice Emeka Ihedioha craves and has been making subtle moves to become PDP Atiku Abubakar's running mate. Could this be why he declined supporting his kith and kin, Peter Obi's or any other south-easterner's candidacy? A week ago, Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal infamously stepped down for Atiku in the PDP presidential primary election. Tambuwal has been lauded, even getting a heroic reception in Sokoto for placing his region ahead of self and friendship in political calculations.

Yet, the jotter remains blank, no notes taken. Ihedioha is friendly close to Tambuwal. Could Ihedioha have been part of terms and conditions for Tambuwal's cooperation? If true, isn't this reprising the role of a pawn? To think Imo State's beloved bride in the 2019 election is (or has been) so eager to play second fiddle, when he could have supported his geo-political zone's cause for presidency nonetheless, reminds Imolites again how unlucky they have been since 1999.

A good number of persons from Imo State you see drumming support for Atiku online or offline are affiliated to Ihedioha. They do so not for a better Nigeria as their sermons claim but largely for personal gains. Their principal in Agodi House, Aso Rock would afford them access to feast as well, they think. Continued relegation of South-east in Nigeria is okay, as long as they are okay. Imolites, when they switch to plan B of seeking the state's governorship seat in the next election, remember these moments. Respond to them also in Ogun State Governor Dapo Abodun's words to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, "We have heard you. We will do the right thing."

I thought the Ohaneze said the will disown and even curse any Igbos/igbos/Ibos that wants to or accept to be a second fiddle - Vice Presidential candidate to their Fulani warlord - Atiku as they have done twice previously.

That’s shows lack of integrity and decorum for these people.

I don't think Atiku will this time choose an Igbo candidate seeing that a strong Yoruba man is in the race .He may go for a south Western running mate who will pull a large support of voters from the South West region.

Then please waste your vote.

This is why I said you igbos and Yorubas will become the next 5% since you will be voting for regional champions.

The goal before us now is to kick the APC out of power.

Anything more is just a pipe dream

I think I buy your idea, APC is not a party to reckon with, this election will be an interesting one, someone can come to vote but will end up not knowing who or what to vote for ......

To kick off APC....I will vote for ATIKU

To kick off APC / PDP for a better Niaja .....I will vote PETER OBI

Should we first achieve the first before going for the second??

its actually called Aguda house

My answer to your question is that seasoned politicians know that Obi is on a suicide mission in Labour Party. yes there may be selfish reasons but no seasoned ranking SE politician worth his salt would support him. it just makes no sense!!!!

Obi is the one you should all blame for leaving PDP, he made the mother of all political miscalculations, just when the SE were inches away from the VP slot as you say and the presidency. Now even if they choose a SE VP candidate, they would have lost massive votes to labour making it hard to overcome an Incumbent APC. When the analysis of the 2023 election is done, if Atiku loses it will be because Obi left with his voters to Labour.

Now that Osinbajo is out of the way, many of the deluded youth with support Obi. Imagine if Obi's teeming supporters vote for PDP!!! Just think about it and you will realize the extent of the monumental fuckup Obi just executed by leaving PDP!!! it is such a monumental fuckup that APC can feild a muslim muslim ticket and still win because Obi has split the opposition votes. Instead of blaming Inhediora, direct your angst at Obi.

By all means engage in moments of fantasy and dream but remmember to come back to earth and face the realities. We told the Osinbajo people, you have no structure, you have no delegates, dont confuse online support with party support, they decided to continue with the dream, today they landed back on earth with a loud thump, many of his supporters have been too ashamed to even show their faces on nairaland and so will the Peter Obi supporters when reality hits them!!!

Not going to happen after how you igbos worked for Buhari and did everything to undermine PDP's chances in the SE out of sheer jealousy to Obi.

Can you remember how a supposed man of the cloth, disgraced Obi in his church but will later accept Ganduje ? That same Mbaka went to Aso Rock demanding compensation from Buhari after the elections .

How about Umahi who not only paid for the Abakalaiki stadium , decorated it and hired crowd to be at Buhari's campaign in his state. Umahi was in the PDP at that time but when Atiku came to his state he didn't bother to attend the rally.

You igbos can go to hell.

Truly spoken. I support Obi but the fact is that Igbos are in a competition to destroy themselves .

It will be foolhardy to vote another candidate from the North in this election. Atiku is just a greedy man. People underestimate the hate and fear people have for another Fulani man in Aso rock. He has done a big damage to the unity of Nigeria by his blind sited ambition to contest. PDP by moral standard ought to have picked a SE candidate even though we know APC rightly will not. Interestingly Obi is going nowhere. He will not win any state as he doesn't have the structure and money to contest. He is only popular on social media and he thinks too highly of himself. I also questioned his judgment. He should have remained in APGA and build that party just like Bola Tinubu did with AD and ACN across the SE states. This was the dream of Dim Ojukwu. But after he was promised Secretary to the Government by Jonathan he quickly jump to PDP that denied him his mandate before the court restored it back.

You're mistaken. I clamour for a south-eastern presidency, not a subservient role of vice-president to Atiku or anyone. South-eastern politicians seem to have learnt nothing from Tambuwal, that's a big concern.
You're playing ostrich
Are your people united enough to make any case for the presidency?
Politics is a game of interest and numbers
Your people are more united about Biafra than presidency and whoever will emerge president from southeast as president will need the overwhelming support of the north, a region who are clearly against secession...
1Igbo's have no one they are ever willing to unitedly support.
2 You can never have presidency is not because of any northerner.. If Peter Obi will ever be president it is not done even 2years before presidential election... We need to be realistic

cc: lalasticlala, front page material. Emergence of Tinubu makes Atiku's choice of running mate more crucial at this time. This piece attempts to connect the dots between Tambuwal stepping down for Atiku and that decision.

This discussion came up immediately after Atiku's victory when some politicians went to visit him.

I also personally think that is the plan, especially looking at the closeness between Tambuwal and Ihedioha, and Tambuwal sacrificing his ambition.

Question now becomes, is there a better candidate in the SE lurking somewhere? Will the who-is-whos in PDP go with the arrangement (Atiku is actually likely to agree to it seeing that Ihedioha is very docile and sees Atiku as his political father, hence will be easy to control)

Rubbish, even if he had supported Peter Obi, Obi wouldn't have gotten more than 100 votes, coz he wasn't ready to spend.
I'm a big fan of Peter Obi, but social media should stop decieving him. Labour party, can not win him president, at the level we are now.
It can only be PDP or APC. If Atiku choses Ihedioha or another Igbo man as VP, we will go with him, instead wasting our votes on Peter Obi's mission impossible

Considering the havoc fulani herdsmen are doing in the country, i don't think any right thinking person from the south, Benue, plateau, etc will go under the sun to vote for a fulani man. Infact, many northerners prefer a southerner that can improve the security in Nigeria. Many Nigerians believe the only reason fulani herdsmen are rampaging the country unchallenged is because their brother is in power.

Everything is not about money, this is the wrong time for any successful party to field a fulani man, but dollars didn't allow pdp have sense. Atiku that couldn't win his own Adamawa state in the last election is who they want to field. Lol. Even if Atiku picks a Bishop from the south, his failure is going to be epic. I will be impressed if PDP comes second.

When Tinubu is flying Muslim /Muslim ticket, how do expect him to win? After destroying the southern unity in 2015, he wants to start religious war and marginalization... After what the Christians experienced since 2015 when a pastor is second in command what will be their fate when all of are Muslims?
