Now, Peter Obi is in Labour party that will collapse after 2023, relying on his popularity in social media, to stand against the two major political parties. Tomorrow south East will still end as opposition.

To win election as big as president in Nigeria, you need alliance and realliance with other regions and other political parties.
CPC, AC, ACN, APGA tried so many times.
They have to come together, coupled with the alliance of Hausas and Yorubas, before they could defeat PDP.

If Peter Obi had remain in PDP, and luckily win with Atiku as running mate, Igbo presidency would have been possible in 4 or 8yrs. But as it is now, no hope yet.
