Nairalanders Good day. A friend of mine wants to make enquiry about the Samsung Galaxy S10+ 5g. So he's asking me if it's advisable to still Purchase a 2019 device in 2022 since Samsung said they won't be releasing any more updates for the Flagship device.
Tho the device has a beastly performance but he's kinda worried about the update as he will be stuck on Android 12. What's your opinion??

You will keep receiving security updates. Android phones of 6 years ago can still run all Android apps. It means you can use the s10 till 2028 without any problem, unlike iOS where apps will no longer be compatible when Apple stops updating the phone.

I would pick snappiness and quality over some version update. I would prefer WhatsApp to open in 0.5 secs on Android 12 than having to wait for 5 5secs on Android 14. These days, are not much differences between android versions. I can't really see any difference between Android 10, 11 and 12.

In summary, just get the phone already. Don't try getting Redmi, Infinix or Tecno with that amount.
You could try a high end Xiaomi, Pixel, OnePlus, or from iphone 11( if you like iOS).

yes go for it. The hardware is futuristic and you'll keep receiving updates and security patches for the next 5 to 6 years.

Just try and get the snapdragon version instead. It has a better battery, doesn't get hot anyhow, doesn't hangs and has a clearer picture. These are the few things I noticed when I compared both versions together

The s19 series will not recieve android 13, but it's a great device nonetheless. Buy the exynos version that you can unlock and update to android 13 yourself.

It's a great device.

All snapdragon s10s are beasts.
