fantastic write up. and the bolded ehn

The bolded is very true. There is no Buhari to blame in the west, or that you can't be a barber because no light, or there is no job that's why you still live with your mum even while over 30.

Those excuse doesn't fly here. If illegal Mexicans that doesnt speak english are balling hard, training their kids in schools and building homes back in their country, how much more a young Nigerian man that speaks English and is legal?

The system will simply reveal your laziness to you. If you're lazy, the system is designed to reward your laziness with punishment, and if you're hardworking, it will boost you to be even more successful. I say travel, kpata kpata, you shall know thyself, and maybe become a philosopher. grin

This is one of the best responses I have read on Nairaland in a very long time

pansophist:
Enjoy my guy, But I use God's name to beg you, live uprightly. I know say to live rough de sweet and come easy, but as someone wey don live for the west for almost half of my life, I be like that old dog wey see as young puppy wey dem just recruit go just dey bark and vibrate, until they shoot am. He think say we wey stay calm no sharp, say we no get sense, but na empty can de make the loudest noise, and the first to be silenced grin

1. Avoid debt. To me, it's the next thing to slavery. You are a slave to whoever you owe. So don't go and collect money from banks because they advertise cheap loans give you, or go collect cars and phones on credit. Don't tie your life as a wage slave just because you want to ball and oppress people, you don't need that. The desire to pepper others usually comes from a place of ego, low self-esteem, and foolishness. So don't go and enslave yourself to jobs to pay monthly debt just to pepper people who don't give a shit about you, and will rather envy instead of celebrating you.

2. You see woman, run. Unless she is a good one, then stick to her for the long term. Sex is the cheapest thing in the west, especially in America, the headquarters of porn and all kinds of degradation, caging young people who can't control themselves. The US is not like Naija where you ejaculate and evacuate. If she is pregnant, then you go pay tired. I know one fine Naija guy, yellow like Ramsey Noah, get three baby mamas, and effectively a slave in my book. What's the point where you cant see your salary because it has been shared with all your baby mamas? you don't need that kind of slavery, my bro.

3. Focus, focus, focus. The west is a place that reveals yourself to you. If you are lazy, you will know. It's an epiphany really, and that realization is not a good one. Nigeria does one thing to lazy folks, and it is that it prevents you from knowing who you are, since the system is so bad and creates a lot of obstacles on your path. But in the west, even if you are broke like a broken bottle, you will earn if you ain't lazy. So man up, or woman up if you do ever transgender, but focus. Know why you are there, and work towards it. You won't be younger, stronger, and youthful than now, so don't waste it.

4. Lastly and most importantly, don't forget your parents, unless they were not there for you when you are young. Take care of them, don't joke with their affairs, and let them be happy that they trained a good son. This is coming from a place of love, so please please, be responsible. May God bless you, it shall be well with you dear comrade, in Jesus' name, Amen. cool

May you find favour in the sight of God and man

Even his closest pals that knows might not tell him all these.

Sad.

When I first land the west, people that hurt me the most were Nigerians that were here before me. Instead of them to lead a young teenage me by the hand, and show me how things are done, they saw me as a competitor, someone to push down and prevent from overtaking them.

I'm even talking about men in their 40's, since I landed here as a teenager. Until I started mingling with whites, and relying on myself 100%, there and then I found my strength. I made some mistakes, but not so bad (eg not knowing how the tax system works, and overworking and have to pay like 20k euros back to the tax man). I cry everytime I de transfer that money. grin

It felt like I was asked to donate my kidney for free, kidney wey I de manage. And the guys were laughing and benefitting from my pain. Sad times. Those days are gone, but I'm now in a better position and try to advice young ones to not make some mistakes because guys out there are wicked.

But I was compensated sha. No peace for the wicked, that word is very true. Three of these guys have been deported, infact I don dash two of them money this year, because naija de punish them very well. Them wan Bury me, them no know say I be seed. I personally do not understand the concept of envy, I don't envy people, I just rely on my hardwork for whatever I want. I believe in the law of "cause and effect".

If you want to be a billionaire like Dangote, then you better do what he is doing. You can't be selling akara and angry that I'm driving lamborghin. My advice is to rely on yourself, be strong and hardworking, and watch how others will have no effect in your life.

Cheers!

US is dying. Depends on how you measure death. If you compare the US to African countries, yes, its heaven. If you compare it to other developed countries, its a shit hole, and I mean it literally

See I'm tired typing, because if I state writing about the US, it will be too long. Its my opinion sha. Better enter Canada or other good place, the US will not get better. But your love for the US shouldn't blind you to its fault. Its called patriotism. I like naija too, but Nigeria is the earthly version of hell for most Nigerians.

From health care to homeless people, indebted and depressed and fat population. Your govt will rather bomb a poor farmer in middle east that earns 50 usd a month instead of house the homeless. How is that a good country?

America is a facade. My childhood friend that is a retired Us marine enjoys Nigeria pass anything. My kid bro stayed in Yankee over 5 years, and stayed in NY, Texas, ATL, Santa Monica California, even visited Miami and some others. He saw it as a 3rd world country wearing Gucci belt. Visit hoods in Brooklyn and New Orleans, u go prefer ajegunle. Congrats on your sojourn.
