i seriously don't think they had to stay till their visas expired. it would have been more honourable showing loyalty by finding their ways back before expiration and apply for another visit. why do they ever think, running away from their countries will take them to their desired destinies? well, it may for some and for people like the deported it doesn't look like it would,cos the will face difficulties getting visa a next time. Nigeria isn't that bad even for an average man to want to run. it can only get better my people. |

I read this story on 234Next.com this morning and it is now on Nairaland. I feel sorry for the deportees and I'm wondering what it would take for them to start life anew in Nigeria. The UK Border Agency is all out to rid Britain of Illegal Immigrants. Overstayers and failed Asylum Seekers are not spared either in this current onslaught by teams of Immigration Officers. It is not only Nigerians that are being deported. Indian and Pakistani Nationals are also being caught and deported on a daily basis. The Recession has also contributed to the high spate of deportations of illegal immigrants in Britain. However, I have some things to say on this issue. Many Nigerians who get deported from the UK are the architects of their own misfortune. These people know they don't have papers to confirm their right to live and work in the UK but they start dabbling into ventures that will get them into trouble. Someone knows he is illegal in England and he keeps collecting benefits with false identification. Then one day, Benefits Investigators work on his case and discover he is not entitled to collect benefits. Then the investigation gets deeper and he is found out as an overstayer or failed Asylum Seeker. Before you know it, he is arrested and detained. His journey back to Nigeria then starts  It is very tough to survive as an illegal immigrant these days in Britain. Even at the Job Centers where NI Numbers are issued, your Passport will be thoroughly screened and the visa in it will be verified on the spot. There are UK Border Agency officers attached to the Job Centers these days. If you're illegal or use fake documents, you could be arrested while interviewing for your NI Number. My advice for Nigerians in the UK who don't have a status is to find ways to regularize their status. If they have saved some good money, they can return to Nigeria to start a business or go to another country i.e Canada or the USA. There is nothing bad in living abroad. Just know what you are doing and try to have a legal stay in Europe and North America. There are opportunities in Nigeria too but they are limited. Hmn. |

Deportation is a normal thing to Nigerians, I was almost deported yesterday by the Malaysia Immigration Authority when i went to pay for my overstay, but miraculously, my overstay fee, document and plea was accepted, the truth is that Nigerians especially here in Malaysia are suffering, most of them who don't know their left from right have emerge to form our local frat here and all they do is use machete to butcher their fellow Nigerians all in the name of frat, we have ayes here, we have vikings but i have not seen any buccaneer here and the problem this people cause for the peaceful ones here is outrageous, they are all the PRODUCT OF NIGERIA, a failed country Please is this a joke or for real? |

oyinbo people dey mean one friend of mine very nice girl was on a visiting visa thats long expired, she was a neighbourhood hairdresser making a lot and dint need to apply for any sort of job, she has a bf and was pretty comfortable. one afternoon we were just chilling when she told me she needed to go to the bank urgently. One hour went by she dint return I said maybe the silly girl went home and dint tell me, at around 6pm I received a call from a white man that they have detained my friend and she wishes to talk to me  shey she rob bank ni? I spoke to her, she said she lost her debit card and wanted to withdraw money from barclays so she took her passport there as a form of I.D and as she was returning she got arrested and slept in Nigeria that night  was it that easy to get deported?I called her mumcys house later she was rather cheerful and full of being as usual  and she assured me that her bf will sort her out she'll be back. Only for us not to hear from the bastard again, she called him and he said he doesn't know any illegal girl oo. anyway this thread just reminded me of my friend lol <3 |

This is one too many cases. Nigerians seeking UK as an escape route from the frustration in their fatherland for a greener pasture need to be smart. They need to develop a strategy to legalize their stay in their host country through marriage and employment. What is illegal must be treated as such. If we understand that and apply it correctly, Nigrian will be okay and will be deporting illegal immigrants seeking for greener pastures outside the legal system. |

Only 61? This is lyk a drop in a mighty ocean of "illegos" in Uk besides am not sure it was worth it tho, as it wudv cost tax payers about £1200 per deportee 4 d emergency deportation, what more these same peeps always seem to find their way back everytime, ask pecham peeps. God only knows how! |

swiftycool: Very true! Unfortunately they don't always find their way back nor does this new government care about how much is being lost by this war on immigration! Most immigrants bring determination to succeed in the UK that many indigines learn from (or should)and they spend their money in the UK (taxes included - even those not entitled to public assistance). The Tories will soon wise up to this waste of time and focus only on immigrants committing crimes but in the meantime, people should seek stay in the UK through the front door not the back. i feel for the people that were deported, take heart, you never know whats around the corner. the UK is a hostile place now for non whites - they are losing their war in libya and their economy is on the verge of bankruptcy, they have to take their frustrations out on someone!!! |
