Unfortunately, no one sacks a Nigerian governor for incompetency but instead rewarded with higher elective positions

Seriously... That's just sad!

Governors and President should be be tested midterm, and voted out if found incompetent.

If we did this, the nation would be way ahead of this.

You will think by now kaduna will be a among the top 5 educationally advantaged states by now. It is easiest to perform experiments on other kids while your enjoy top class education abroad.

Teachers don suffer. The midget of a governor is the governor in charge of one of the worst States in this country in terms of insecurity. Yet no body has sacked him.

In a Sane society, he'd have been booted out long ago but here he's sacking others

Tueee!

Public schools are crowded with tomatoes sellers called teachers, the government should weed them out.they have nothing to offer, you can't give what you don't have. The other states should take a cue.Education is a serious busines,it is the bedrock of a nation.

Does a state government has the power to dismiss a federal government employee? A national chairman of Nigeria Union of Teachers sacked by Kadun state government? Anyway, I need more explanation please.

Way to go

Try this in Federal public sector and see how many northerners/quota employee will be entrenched

You can't sow mediocre and expect to harvest competency, anambra can't be given a cutoff of 150+ while zamfara is given cutoff mark of 2 then turn around and expect quality graduate of zamfara origin

You are wrong Sir! I served with both Southerners and Easterners which many of them are unable to write a simple application. What do you expect if you posted them to schools to teach?

Kindly stay away from being a bigot and let us face the reality and fight a government to do the needful.

I have never seen a governor as conscienceless as this El-rufai. In this very hard times you are sacking workers as though you yourself can pass competency test for your level. Has Kaduna state not failed in terms of security, but why are you still there. Oh, gone are the days when they used to impeach non performing governors and presidents
Re: Competency Test: Kaduna State Sacks NUT President, 2,356 Other Teachers by kkins25(m): 9:37pm On Jun 19, 2022
As a teacher, i must say that this pleases me. Not only does this test sieve out incompetent teachers which are bountiful(if you've been to KD) but also creates opportunities for the real gurus to enter that field.
Teachers that don't like to read! tueh!!! sack them.

El-Rufai is a very difficult human being.

But he has balls.

Truth is the quality of teachers in public schools is a mess. Although one can also argue that government's lack of funding in the educational sector has contributed to the quality of teachers that find their way into the profession.
Fashi say the guy dey do anyhow but the guy get real balls. This guy single handedly transformed Abuja into a real city. I just wish he could change.

This is enough proof that Nigerians don't want change, they just want a government that will give them alms. Will you pay these incompetent teachers? The education sector is terrible, and incompetent teachers are part of the reason it is how it is.

I don't really like elrufai because of his stance on political issues but this man is one of the greatest minds in Nigeria. If not for him Abuja would have been a shitehole like enugu.

The Union leader isn’t a n employee of the Federal Government. Rather he is an employee of the State Government, and probably a senior teacher. He is only a leader of a national association of teachers, which cuts across the entire country.

The administration of this man really bastardised and messed up the education standard in the state, especially the primary sector. I happened to be one of those that were employed by his govt.after the retrenchment of the 21,000 primary school teachers back in 2017 for some unjustifiable reasons and they claimed that it was because they failed their so "called competency",we know the truth behind the lay off of the teachers but that will be a story for another day. As for the recently sacked/dismissed staff,I was not surprised, cos he was looking for a way to fund the salary of the newly recruited secondary school teachers into the state secondary schools and that's the only way he thought necessary. As a teacher in KADSUBEB(Kaduna state Universal Basic Education Board),I was really wasting away my time and potential, cos no growth, incentives, better welfares of the teachers and above all insubordination of teachers by the authorities and management of the board, I willingly resigned from the job cos it jst doesn't worth it. I'm from the East and a master degree holder by God's grace, honestly, working in such environment and with the crop of staff in such organisation(mostly indigenous Muslims) can be so frustrating and demoralising to say the least. El-rufia made civil service especially in public schools unattractive and potentially suppressing. Jst like someone rightly said in the comment section, majority of the people affected in this dismal are Christians both from southern Kaduna and those that are not from the state. What the shortman does is a case of robbing Peter to pay Paul, anytime the state recruits staff into the civil service sector, the govt looks for a way to lay off other or old staff in order to save up money to pay the salary of the newly recruited staff. It has been like that since the inception of his administration. If you think that the slogan of the Kaduna state is still "Center of Learning",u had better think again, because that has been eroded ever since this man took over the affairs of the State. The rate of unemployment in Kaduna state has really escalated since the tenure of El-rufai hence the surge in banditry, kidnapping and insecurity in the state. The education sector in the state is nothing to write home about cos of mismanagement and appointment of incompetent individuals into the sector. I write from Kaduna and I have had a fare share of what I'd call "Suffering and smiling" while working as a primary school teacher in the state.

In other words teachers were not being paid their salaries and so were not dedicated to their teaching tasks, including people like you with a Masters degree who were employed in 2017 after the retrenchment of that year? I ask. Or is it that the management of the individual schools, including yours, are incompetent and can’t deliver on their mandate?
Meanwhile I wished you could just back up with just a list the claim of Christians and Southern Kaduna indigenes as victims of retrenchment. But it amazes me that a Nigerian of Eastern extraction like you might have gotten employed at the expense of these Christian Southerners. I’m just thinking aloud

just say 1 you don't have money to pay salaries so the easiest way to cut overhead costs is to sack staff on the grounds of competency test 2. The Northern leaders have always looked for ways to stop their citizens from being literate so this is a good opportunity cause i can bet you wont source for qualified teachers to fill the gap
