They are too big to check vehicles again. So it is almost an avenue for job creation

Once you use the Benin Bye pass heading to Agbor, those military checkpoints have civilians searching your vehicles

From Badagry roundabout down to Agbara, all the Customs checkpoints have haggard looking boys with golf clubs stopping vehicles too.

There is a street name they call them. I can't remember it now
So na common occurrence now? Thanks for the info

Start with HTML first: html.net has a good course simple enough to complete in a couple of weeks.

You can always @ me on this thread since this thread can be used for any discussion and we're not veering off-tangent.

This was my path:

2008 - Was in Junior Secondary and started writing HTML with my small Xpress Music Nokia Phone
Started styling the HTML with CSS and got it looking better (still could not afford a laptop)

2009 - Bought a Symbian phone and started writing JavaScript and Python (Symbian had a runtime for both)

2010 - Started writing PHP/jQuery (Got my first laptop)

2011 - Started building websites for companies and governmental parastatals

2012 - Started University
2017 - Biochemistry/Lab Technology Degree at Uniport.

2018 - Continued freelancing and became a React/Node.js specialist.

2020 - Got a role at Nomba building software for their POS devices

2022 - Got a role at Paystack building stuff for their new expansions

Resigned from Paystack and decided to go into Cloud/DevOps

Basically this stuff take time but you need to put in the work.

Good luck!

I would like you to mentor me

Why this man dey vex on top a simple matter?

Data Analysis, lols. There are thousands of data analysts on Upwork, Fiverr and Freelancer.

Dem plenty like pure water and the pay is poor mostly for beginners on those platforms.

If a skill is easy to learn, that field will be congested. Data Analysis even has more competition than web development because the latter takes more time to learn.

The guy in question didn't say he's looking for a skill to learn to start earning in six months.

Did he?

It's better to go for a field that takes more time to enter and has prospects. He may not choose web development though, but software or web development has better prospects than data engineering or data analysis IMO.
Wrong though

There's much Competition in Web Dev than Data Science.....

To be honest Data Science is actually more difficult than Web Dev... If you jam Machine Learning... You go run mad.

Exactly.
Here on nairaland, there is a subsection where you can get web developers for as low as 10k(I wanted to say 5k). Albeit, their work may not be top notch but many Nigerian clients ( not the big boys of course) I have dealt with have no interest in quality websites. If you can host it,design like 20 pages , check on it once a month then no wahala.

DS is better paying and mastery(I mean mastery not proficiency) takes time. In web design, learn HTML,CSS,and JavaScript and you can take on a lot of Nigeria clients unlike DS

JavaScript bruv.

Java is used for building backend services, applets and other stuff. You'd only use Java for building on the web if today's date is December 28, 1999 grin
Misinformation.

Java is still used well for building Web services especially enterprise software, infact in this Nigeria most banks even interswitch use Java for backend.

Spring and spring boot is the framework.

Data Analysis is very Complex walahi cheesy

Infact 70% of your Job as a DS is actually Data Cleaning and most people aren't ready for that stress

Not misinformation.

You wouldn’t use Java to build client-facing applications—you’d use JavaScript.

In earlier times, you could use Macromedia Flash Applets developed in ActionScript or you could install Java applets that could use the Java VM as a rendering engine. You don’t need to do that now.

You misread the context. At a stretch you could argue that WASM could be used to execute anything that compiles to a binary on the web but for that, you’d still need a JavaScript client wrapper.

Totally.

I had to setup a service for routing transactions to Interswitch today. My company is heavily dependent on multiple Spring Boot and DropWizard applications and i usually setup the deployment pipelines and preproduction processes necessary for shipping.

This fuel situation is really biting hard. 13000 fuel at 300 naira per litre barely crossed half tank. I will have to fill the tank with like 22000. I use the full tank in roughly one week. That's almost 90k on fuel alone in a month. How much con remain from the salary?

To buy at NNPC at 179, you have to sleep there overnight and they may come by 7am and say they are not selling.

Now I wish I have GloriousGbolas connect grin
