BlueRayDick:It's just like for one good move, another policy is wholly undoing the good move and it's back to square one. This scatter gun approach this administration is doing with their policies is strangling the productivity of the private sector. If you don't want to help the masses, why not create a conducive climate for businesses to thrive, rather you're dishing out policies that are counter productive. 1 Like |

izzou: Okay fair point. I was thinking generally about people that don't have the generators before now. But even if they disconnect from Discos and opt to rely on generating set 24/7, I don't think their generator will work round the clock. They may have to get a second generator as backup. Also the cost of fueling may not reach 40m but it will certainly go higher than the current N14m |

BlueRayDick: Which for me, is obviously better than dashing these people 40 million. Tomorrow, grid will collapse for 4 days, and they will leave you in complete darkness, yet your estimated billing is like constant K 4 Likes |

Ellexy: Most companies like MTN, Nigerian breweries, Nestle, Cadbury declared losses for the 2023 financial year due to exchange rate wahala and fuel subsidy removal. Now imagine what this electricity tariff increment will do to their production costs this year again. I can't imagine how much companies like Nestle, Cocacola, Seven-up , etc will be paying for electricity at their plants |

Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 10:05am On Apr 05 |
izzou: Then that makes sense, just that even gas now is expensive but at least it is better than the darkness the discos want to continue selling at high price. Independent Power plant would've been more beneficial to them, but those stuff are very very expensive considering the exchange rate now and when it's up u will be paying serious money to keep ur engineers motivated to work. Omo! But now with this tariff rate, fight go dey happen between families on rationing units o. Imagine make wife commot house forget to switch some power source while the husband is looking at how they will ration 83 units @ 20k for the whole month. |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 10:10am On Apr 05 |
larride: Those ones would just stop paying bill and face bribing IKEDC officials fully. When u give someone in a 2 bedroom like N60k bill what do u think he will do? If he pays N20k out of it , dem go still cut him light cos he still have N40k unpaid. But if he bribes IKEDC with less than N10k nobody will cut his light for the month. That will go on and on ;and Discos will still come online to continue to groan that they are not making profit. |

BlueRayDick: IPP are the way to go, but when you look at Nigeria, you will know the country is already a weapon fashioned against prosperity. In all of these energy challenges, the Ministry should be looking at how to generate green energy. China and India have generated Gigawatts from the Sun. Why isnt it possible? Yes, Solar is expensive, but the raw materials are here. Why not we find a way to produce these things here, and it becomes cheaper for us to use, without the burden of FX? Instead, state governments will be giving Chinese the licence to mine lithium here for peanuts. Those ones will carry the lithium to China, design batteries with it, and come and sell it to us in USD. 2 Likes |

BlueRayDick: The Discos know what they are doing. That's why I'm blaming Adelabu. The Discos have been wanting to increase tariff since 2yrs ago ir so that Buhari refused only for Adelabu to get there, within months darkness everywhere and we started hearing Discos increase in tariff bla bla bla. Even till now, the light is still epileptic. That werey must not be Oyo Governor 1 Like |

izzou: That's why I've always maintained we have leadership issues in this country; the entire one year I spent in the north made me realize that. The sun in the north is so harsh, but less than a week over there it got me thinking : "why are we not tapping into solar to power houses and factories in the north?" When I got to my PPA, I was surprised to see a full ICT center that was constructed by the Federal government which is powered by Solar. Like if there's no NEPA light for 3 days , some of us corpers literally relocate to the ICT center to spend our days there while we only go to our lodge to eat only to return there. Then I was like, if this thing is actually possible , then why do we have the north on the national grid? Like rain might fall for as much as 275 days out of 365 days in a year. Why is the federal government and the state governments not figure out a way to gradually take this people off the national grid by investing in Solar energy over time. Why does everyone has to rely on the hydro electric? Why is the FG not thinking of how the gas deposits in the Niger Delta can be used to generate power for Niger Delta states? Why is FG only pumping into NDDC money that will be looted by their appointees? Like why do we have simple and obvious answers looking at us in the eye and we just choose to ignore them? 1 Like |

BlueRayDick: I was speaking with a guy that works in the port last month He told me that if i see what the Chinese are doing in Northern Nigeria, I will weep He said most of these "Bandits diplaces Villagers" story we read is not the true news. What the Chinese do is that they go to a village, settle whoever needs to be settled, then pay Bandits to chase the villagers away. Immediately that is done, they swoop in to mine lithium. And that is how billions in USD of our resources are carted away. See the one that happened in Oyo. If not for the blast, wetin for happen? |

BlueRayDick: 20k for a whole month? In a way the light is kinda cheap. I use 7k fuel every night. If you can give me light for that same hours for 50k a month I'll dive at the it. No matter how you look at it, nepa light is still cheaper than running generators. 1 Like |

TemporaryHansel: I never said the 20k a month will last them; I was only giving an illustration that even if the family decides to ration N20k it will be almost impossible with this new tariff. It depends on the electrical appliances u have at home like AC, Microwave, etc. Saying NEPA is cheap is the reason why they keep treating us like trash and getting away with it. U can visibly see people contesting the claim that they enjoy 20 hours light daily which is the lamba NERC has used to jack up the rate. I know u will want to use the tariff in other countries like UK, USA , Swedeen, etc to compare naija, but remember they have 24/7 light there. 1 Like |
