Good morning folks, my cousin is currently in the US on a B1/B2 visa. He got an offer already in public Health Oklahoma State University, can he switch/change his B1/B2 visa to F1 while in the US. He doesnt want to go back to Nigeria, the B1/B2 is still valid, and he wants to change the status here in the US to F1. Please anyone suggestion, and guidance on how to change from visit visa to student visa within the USA. Please advise. Thanks 1 Like |

CallMeByMyName: “If you would like to change your status through USCIS, then you will need to reach out to your SEVP-certified university, or language program for Form I-20 (“Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status”). In this form, the school’s Designated School Official (DSO) should mark ‘change of status’ as the Issue Reason. Next, you will need to pay the I-901 Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) fee. Lastly, you will need to file Form I-539 (“Application to Extend/Change Nonimmigrant Status”) to USCIS, and pay the fees for filing and biometrics. Once you have filed Form I-539, you will need to wait for USCIS to respond. While you are waiting, however, you will need to make sure that your original visitor status through your B-1/B-2 visa is still valid” 3 Likes |

Mjosh1000: The person who was able to book an interview space confirmed that he/she paid for VISA fees alongside the SEVIS fees. If you didn't do what he/she has done, you shouldn't expect the same processing time! Have you paid your SEVIS fees? |
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by sunspartech: 5:02pm On Apr 12 |
dest4real: Does that mean without the payment of SEVIS FEE you won't be able to receive visa application approval? I don't think so |

Datst136:I applied for PhD biomedical science. I called them this morning, I was also referred back to the program coordinator. I don't know why it's taking time. I tried taking my mind of it I can't 🤣 God's willing it'd be a congratulatory email but it's taking too lonh |

dest4real: I've not paid my sevis fee |
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by Grit2943(m): 8:25pm On Apr 12 |
sunspartech:You can get approval without paying SEVIS fee. However, you need to make payment for SEVIS fee at least three days before your interview and bring the receipt alongside other documents when coming for your interview. |
