See the details of the public forum below, for landlords that will want to attend. Nonsense! How can a landlord know a prospective tenant does yahoo? Will EFCC provide devices or voodoo that landlords will use to screen prospective tenants? When they fail, they push the blame and the responsibility to the defenseless. The same EFCC that, despite its funding and sophisticated equipment, cannot detect fraud is tasking landlords to become special detectives. Welcome to the zoo. Fighting crime is a collective effort but this EFCC is mad. Specify what landlords should do when giving an apartment to prospective tenants. Do not just say the landlord will be jailed once a tenant is confirmed to be a fraudster. If you specify things, landlords will play their parts. But considering how fraudsters innovate methods, landlords cannot catch them, and you know it. Should the landlords collect a specific document from the tenant? Should the landlord go to the person's workplace? If yes, make it a law and also make a provision to protect the landlords because some tenants may attack some landlords on the ground that the landlords are encroaching on tenants' privacy. Some wicked landlords may even leverage on it to invade the privacy of innocent tenants. Landlords that are fraudsters can even use the policy to gather information to harm unsuspecting innocent tenants. P1PrinceKT:You do not know there are legitimate and well-paid online jobs. For those claiming it is easy to identify a yahoo boy, and also for those talking about KYC: Some business owners and employees are into Yahoo. They use their offices and businesses to cover up. Even some bankers are suspects. Abba is enough "Kyari" evidence. So, how reliable is KYC? When landlords begin ask sensitive questions, na una go still say why ladlords dey put eye for your personal life. SIM registration, NIN linkage and BVN have not stopped fraudulent calls and fraudulent transfer of money by fraudsters and kidnappers. Yet some of you are hoping on KYC. Shmm! Una no wan borrow sense. Fraudsters can even set up a physical office and gather colleagues as customers and employees. They will vacate the office after a few months of fraudulent operations. Fraud detection is not as easy as you think. If na KYC, everybody go carry KYC list dey waka. If na KYC, police no need further investigation when person show KYC. Make una borrow sense. 434 Likes 35 Shares |

Utter nonsense!! And what about those yahoo boys that build their own houses? Would the EFCC jail the seller of the land for not asking where the boys got money to buy the land, how many years would they jail the architect that draw the building plan? Cos he should have asked where the young boy got millions to employ his service. For how long would the contractor building the house be sentenced since they didn't source for where the boys money came from? And the last question is, if the house has flats for rent would the tenants also be jailed for renting a house from a landlord whose source of income isn't known? These are critical questions EFCC should ask themselves 274 Likes 13 Shares |

The brainlessness of this direction is making my head hurt. First it empowers landlords to pry into the private lives of their tenants, secondly it is going to be a very hard to enforce. I doubt it. 39 Likes 1 Share |

What if the LandLord is not living in the building and has no idea whom the Agent gave his house to, biko just arrest the criminals , don't come and complicate people's life. Anyway may be we would start incorporating building now, so that they have their identity away from the owner .... 6 Likes |

EFCC does not make laws, they are not the courts. They don't even have the power to jail anyone except the courts. They only have prosecutorial powers, they can usurp the powers of the court. Civil right societies should challenge this statement in court and bring the idiot in EFCC who made the statement to book. EFCC must know it limits cannot cross prosecutorial boundaries. 116 Likes 10 Shares |
