I really hope he gets the maximum sentence thou, they ruined the country and left the masses to their mercy ! If ekweremadu did his job as a senate president the level of ruin in the country would be at a minimal , but they rather embezzle and rubbish the constitution with a hope that they can buy themselves out of every mess they created .

He is my tribesman but I hope he gets the worse as he deserves!!!

Same faith awaits every politician that takes an oath to lead but rather go against it and rather bring more suffering on its people .

Last last e go reach all of them turn

Same fate…. Not faith

The UK is not Russia or North Korea. They do not need pressure to administer justice and fairness.

UK should adjourn the case to NOVEMBER like Kanu’s case in Nigeria, so these useless “reps” will know what it feels to be detained endlessly without trials.

May they continue to suffer as they jet out of Nigeria to enjoy the spoils of their socio-economic-political incompetence.

ISEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

UK that jailed a formal Nigerian governor.
UK that will not even spare theirs if found wanting.
A parliamentarian resigned just for watching porn movie.
Only Queen of England will go scot free if pant found below the belt.

Let's wait till July 9th to see what the prosecutors want to do. All the political pressures couldn't save James Ibori from serving time. Actually prosecuting and convicting Ekweremadu will be a good career booster for the prosecutor(s). UK understands the Nigerian system better than Nigerians.

Nigerian polithiefcians are ever united irrespective of any factor but the masses are divided for the sake of polithiefcians.

I pray that may Ekweremadus rot in UK jail for thinking that their overfed bleaching daughter's life is precious but the homeless boy's life is not.

Now that the Nigerian authorities have officially confirmed the age of the boy, it will be a very narrow chance for him not to take the hammer. He is after all an insignificant person and Ekeremadu being a diplomat and all, given Nigeria's strong diplomatic ties with the UK, the later stands a better chance.
Whoever advised that boy didn't mean well for him, in my opinion.

Tried and Convicted a senior Nigerian politician as the mastermind behind an international organ harvesting scheme

He has other children, he has nephews and nieces and also other family members, but he decided to buy a kidney from a poor young man.... this would be the main thing that the prosecutors would hammer on.

Gbagura:
I would have done same thing for my kids. Whether he's a politician or not doesn't matter, no responsible father would allow his kid suffer without making a MOVE. A movie titled John Q has all the answers to how desperate a man can go to protect his kid when sick.

I can only shake my head at your crooked way of reasoning.
The boy is insignificant in the eyes of moronic Nigerians like you and Ekweremadu and that's why he was targeted for organ harvest. But in the eyes of UK government, he's a human being worth protecting.
Ekweremadu is a diplomat but a criminal. Thank God, Oyinbos don't have worship mentality like you ignorant folks here.
Nnamdi Kanu is in detention and Nigeria government wouldn't entertain any move from UK (which I support anyway). But this is an opportunity for UK government too to fvck Nigeria government. Strong diplomatic tie my ass.
They don't stand a better chance, you should have seen what awaits them going by their bail denial.

Whoever advised that boy didn't mean well for him, in my opinion.
Oh, the doctors should have proceeded anyway when they saw the discrepancies in the ages of the boy and what was on his passport? They should have gone ahead even when they realised that the kid either didn't know what he was about to do or didn't know that his decision was a life altering decision?
The boy is in UK government protective custody and his kidneys will be intact.
Your opinion is trash

But frankly, Ekweremadu's case is a diplomatic headache for UK, not only diplomatic headache, if the case isn't handled correctly it could taint the image of UK and could cause an uncomfortable anti social in UK as well.

Some People would view this case from the lens of "Rich against poor" indeed Ekweremmadu occupies a top position that could have made the life of David better.

There's no normal, have a job 21 year old that would be willing to part with their kidney for someone not related to them. But Because of inability of the govt which Ekweremmadu occupied a very important position to provide infrastructures and amenities to help the poor to get a toe hold on the social ladder, David "allegedly " was willing to sell his kidney to survive. So some people will look at the case from this lens, Rich using the poor at will.. poor man die, Rich man lives.. Rich keeps getting richer and living longer at the expense of poor masses and Ekweremmadu happens to be a high ranking politician as well.

Also on the social impact on this case, depending on how it was handled the outcome.. many people with similar criminal case will be running to the court to overturn their convictions or reduce sentence or acquit them .. this is a criminal lawyers bread and butter grin but this does damage a country's legal system.

On the diplomatic side, UK doesn't want to be a safe haven for anyone to feel comfortable to commit a crime in no matter their diplomatic status , they don't want to be safe haven for anyone to come in to finalize any criminal intent or criminal action or activities so they are threading very carefully..

Also, regardless of the outcome of the case, UK might not have any option than to offer asylum to the David guy understanding how powerful Ekweremmadu is in Nigeria politics and how even his own state government of Ebonyi state are leaning on support for Ekweremmadu.. they might not have a choice to offer him an asylum and if his family receives threats, they might offer them asylum as well.

Since Ekweremmadu is a politician many people don't even want to hear the details of the case, they want him to stay in jail for life grin

Succinctly stated.

SEN. IKE EKWEREMADU & Wife needs a super power and high level inter-governmental diplomacy to regain freedom.

Sections 2,3 & 4 of the Modern Slavery Act hold am for neck like bow-tie.

The consent and age of the victim not withstanding. It’s even immaterial to begin with.

The suit he filed in Nigeria does not help his cause at all.

MODERN SLAVERY ACT 2015

SECTION 2: Human trafficking

(1)A person commits an offence if the person arranges or facilitates the travel of another person (“V”) with a view to V being exploited.

(2)It is irrelevant whether V consents to the travel (whether V is an adult or a child).

SECTION 3: Meaning of exploitation

(1)For the purposes of section 2 a person is exploited only if one or more of the following subsections apply in relation to the person.:

Removal of organs etc
(4)The person is encouraged, required or expected to do anything—

(a)which involves the commission, by him or her or another person, of an offence under section 32 or 33 of the Human Tissue Act 2004 (prohibition of commercial dealings in organs and restrictions on use of live donors) as it has effect in England and Wales, or

(b)which would involve the commission of such an offence, by him or her or another person, if it were done in England and Wales.
