Instead of grandstanding with stakeholders in the cities, let them seek intelligence from vulnerable communities in the state, and move into the bushes to drive out the Fulani invaders and killers threatening the lives of everyone. 1 Like |

NiRfreak: Point of correction, fulanis and igbos are the problems in Nigeria since 1960. One is causing reglious war while the other one is causing civil and secessionist war. Yorubas and other are calm. |

officialwdhtv: Wow! So CCTV is not used to fight crime "overseas"? Mmmmmmmm? Bruh! Most crimes are solved after the act with the use of data from forensics, eyewitness accounts and, most of all, dashcam and CCTV footage. |

jmoore: Is it People who sell their Vote for #5,000, that will invest in Solar CCTV Cameras? What about the Batteries required to power the Cameras at Night or does the "Solar" also function at Night? I understand the instruction was to "Businesses" but l dont seen the Governor forcing the Fed Govt Offices in his State to install any Camera, Buhari will not allow it. Electricity First, before anything. In this and other things (Fuel, Security, Health, Education, etc,) Buhari has failed woefully. |

Human factor is being brought in now . CCTV is good but the government has not installed any on our roads and public places? Where did they want the people to raise the installation money from? It should a gradual process not fire brigade approach . CCTV is not full prove of preventing crime ,those that are supposed to have been installed in Abuja where are they now. |

officialwdhtv: Sir even in the developed countries like the USA, crimes happen every minute despite there being CCTV on EVERY street corner , every street light and every public building The CCTV helps in deterring most criminals and stopping many; but people CANT MAN EVERY CAMERA, it's not practicable. Some can be manned definitely. Having a human Manning every camera is tantamount to redundancy. Most developed cities of the world though have such 24 hour control rooms with people Manning cameras. I think even Ibadan, Oyo State has one. But it doesn't stop murders , rapes, thefts etc in New York , London, Paris or Chicago, it just helps in catching the criminals. |

This news will not go down well with the security agencies. They prefer a Nigeria with no surveillance. No police will go there to where CCTV is and b asking owo mi da . |

YoungLionken: I think this government should consider encouraging private shops to instal indoor and outdoor closed circuit cameras. Generally our ruling bodies lack the culture of maintenance. CCTV needs steady power supply ..NEPA , generator or battery . NEPA we don’t have. Corruption will kill diesel supply to power generator initiative. Battery and solar panels are good options but they may get stolen. See what happened to Lagos CCTV coverage; almost gone except for the ones at Alausa etc |

Excuzeme:All the offerings churches are collecting is not enough to buy CCTV? Anyone that can spend 10 million to build a house should have no problem buying a CCTV camera. The policy was not directed to akara sellers or okada riders. Solar can function at night. You buy additional battery which is charged by the solar during the day. |

An 'Executive Order' will have to target a very narrow band of private organisations, otherwise, it will run the risk of being unconstitutional. I suspect only businesses requiring license from the State govt to operate will be affected e.g hotels, supermarkets etc. I'm not sure if places of worship require State govt license. The State will need to encourage this set of private organisations to install security cameras. It can't force them by an executive order. |

jmoore: Majority of churches up and down the country don't even make enough to cover basic costs. The average offering in most churches is probably no more than N200 per person. Majority of churches have less than 150 members. How is maintenance, diesel/petrol, equipment, pastors salary (if full time) going to be paid. There's a lot of hard graft and volunteering by highly dedicated, community-oriented individuals who keep many churches going. Don't be deceived by social media and the flamboyance of just a few large churches. |

DeLaRue:But they can erect gates and put doors in their churches. CCTV is cheaper than all the gates and doors in one church. |

jmoore: I agree Churches should consider installing CCTV. All I'm saying is the cost will be an issue for many of them. I know what I'm saying. Also, the effectiveness of security cameras in these situations should not be overstated. Terrorists do surveillance. All they need is a peace of cloth over their faces, and security cameras loose their effectiveness. That said, security cameras are better than nothing. |
