Both courses are beautiful & have amazing prospect's. Radiography seems to have the upper hand in Nigeria with respect to better pay and that's because only few tertiary institutions offer the programme. Outside of the country, nursing is hot cake, both in prestige and in earnings & the ease in moving abroad favours nurses more even though HCPC seems to have levelled the ground for radiographers. Pray about it, probably visit diagnostic facilities & hospitals and make a spot on assessment of which of these noble professions appeal the most to you 5 Likes |

There are insinuations that Radiography would be radically automated in the coming year. I'm no Professional on this but you should research how this would affect the industry. |

. Let’s look at what it takes to be a nurse vs. a radiologist now that we’ve answered the main question. So let’s talk about Radiology As a radiologist, you will assist other doctors in diagnosing and treating patients, which can be a rewarding career. Those who work in the field of radiology, unlike many other professions, never have the same day twice. A typical day may contain a variety of patient problems, unusual settings, and the application of cutting-edge technology. As a radiologist, you’ll use ultrasound, x-rays, CT scans, MRIs, and other imaging equipment to diagnose and treat patients. The majority of radiologic and MRI technologists are full-time employees. Some technologists work evenings, weekends, or overnight shifts since imaging is occasionally required in emergencies. Nursing is a demanding professional path, but if you are compassionate and want to help the weak and sick, this is the path for you. You must also be willing to work long hours in high-stress settings and put your patients’ needs ahead of your own. Advanced-degreed nurses are in high demand all around the world, and they can find work in both the private and public sectors quickly. To begin your career as a nurse, you must complete one of three educational paths: a bachelor’s degree in nursing, an associate’s degree in nursing, or a diploma from a recognized nursing program. A license is required for registered nurses. Many people mistakenly believe that nursing means caring for patients. It’s much more than that, though. Nurses are increasingly taking on leadership roles in healthcare settings, and they are capable of accomplishing a variety of tasks. Furthermore, advanced education allows you to specialize in a certain field. Specialty fields such as Nurse Anesthetists, Nurse Midwives, and Nurse Practitioners What Do Nurses Do Every Day? Registered nurses (RNs) provide and coordinate patient care, educate patients and the public about various health conditions, and provide advice and emotional support to patients and their families. Registered nurses typically do the following: Assess patients’ conditions Record patients’ medical histories and symptoms Observe patients and record the observations Administer patients’ medicines and treatments Set up plans for patients’ care or contribute information to existing plans Consult and collaborate with doctors and other healthcare professionals Operate and monitor medical equipment Help perform diagnostic tests and analyze the results Teach patients and their families how to manage illnesses or injuries Explain what to do at home after treatment What Do Radiologists Do Every Day? Radiology or radiologic technologists, commonly known as radiographers, are medical professionals that perform x-rays and other diagnostic imaging procedures on patients. MRI techs create diagnostic images using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners. Radiologic and MRI technologists typically do the following: Adjust and maintain imaging equipment Follow precise orders from physicians on what areas of the body to image Prepare patients for procedures, including taking a medical history and shielding exposed areas that do not need to be imaged Position the patient and the equipment to get the correct image Operate the computerized equipment to take the images Work with physicians to evaluate the images and to determine whether additional images need to be taken Keep detailed patient records. How To Become A Nurse Practitioner? Becoming a Nurse Practioner will take significant time and effort. The education and training of a Nurse Practitioner normally take six to eight years. Typically require a master’s degree in the field of your choice (two to three years.) Then required to take and pass the APRN certification exam (less than one year.) How To Become A Radiologist? Students interested in radiologic or MRI technologies should pursue math and science classes such as anatomy, biology, chemistry, and physics in high school. Individuals must undergo a four-year radiology residency after graduating from medical school. On-call employment has been increasingly common in the last two years, which some people find both physically and mentally taxing. A one- or two-year fellowship program, usually in a specific area of radiology, must be completed. To practice as a radiologist, candidates must pass the United States Medical Licensing Exam or the Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Exam. Many radiologists also need to pass state boards and be certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Radiology or the American Board of Radiology. Nurses Practitioners earn more than Radiologist, with the median wage of a Nurse Practitioner at $117,670 compared to $63,710 per annum However, wages will vary on the number of years of experience, geographical location, etc. Job Role Median Wage / Per Annum Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Anesthetists, Midwives $117,670 Registered Nurse $75,330 According to US Labor Bureau and Statistics, the median annual wage for nurse anesthetists, nurse midwives, and nurse practitioners was $117,670 per year in 2020. The median wage is the wage at which half the workers in an occupation earned more than that amount and half earned less. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $82,460, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $184,180. Median annual wages for nurse anesthetists, nurse midwives, and nurse practitioners in May 2019 were as follows: Nurse anaesthetists $183,580 Nurse practitioners $111,680 Nurse-midwives $111,130 In May 2020, the median annual wages for nurse anesthetists, nurse midwives, and nurse practitioners in the top industries in which they worked were as follows: Hospitals; state, local, and private $124,660 Outpatient care centres $122,840 Offices of physicians $114,570 Offices of other health practitioners $111,610 Educational services; state, local, and private $111,400 Source; Nurse Anesthetists, Nurse Midwives, and Nurse Practitioners: Occupational Outlook Handbook: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (bls.gov) With demand predicted to grow by 9% every year, you should have no trouble finding work in Radiology. However, with anticipated growth of 45 percent from 2020 to 2030, far faster than the average for all occupations, obtaining a Practitioner position will not be a problem. Final Thoughts Nursing is regarded to be better than Radiology because it pays better, is more in demand, and has more career choices. Both nurses and radiologists must complete arduous academic qualifications. Nurses and radiologists both work shifts and spend a lot of time on their feet. Both professions are customer-facing. It is important to choose what to study. Speak with trustworthy friends and family members, and think about obtaining professional help. Before choosing a career path to study, consider your talents and limits, as well as your likes and dislikes. 13 Likes 2 Shares |

Both are very good professions. Since you are to chose 1 of the 2, I will say go for Radiography. My reason is that radiographers are more scarce than nurses. With scarcity comes high demands.. 4 Likes |

Radiography, I believe you intend to write. Cos radiology is the preclude of Medical doctors who already have an MBBS. But radiography is non-medical doctors. Just go for nursing abeg. You have two options viz: Basic nursing (3 years) and BSc nursing (5 years). The former is more clinically oriented and more challenging than the latter and of course I prefer it. After your three years/five years depending on your choice, in fact while you are in your final year, sit for IELTS and the year you finish school, sit for your foreign exams and japa to the UK. In short, Nursing is a surer way to japa to UK and Australia, surer than radiography. 1 Like |

freeman67:You forgot that 1) not all hospitals have radiography department unlike nursing. 2) in hospital setting, nursing contribute to 30% of the workforce. I doubt if radiography contribution is upto 5%. That is why nursing is always in high demands all over the world and will continue to be as far as human population keep growing. And 3) Nursing graduates salary is now at pair with that of radiography, medlab, pharmacy etc that spent same 5yrs in university. 1 Like |

Radiology school is easier. In the job, you don't deal with the dirty aspects of nursing. The pay is okay. Nursing pays more and has more options. If you have the stomach for it, do it. |

emmanuelbrown26:How are you guys even arriving at all this? Radiography starts in Conhess9 same as degree nursing. Nurses have higher chances of easy career progression with advanced training. And nurses work 3 shifts per 24hrs which can give them enough time to equally manage other business/activities. 2 Likes |
