I joined Nairaland about 10 years ago with another account. I remember reading delightful stories on the literature section. I used to have verbal spars with some folks on the religious section too. Romance/family section used to be filled with so many mature people who would share deep insight and real life experiences.

The politics section was always heated (as it is in political debates). There were mature folks who would debate this vs that; APC vs PDP. It was an interesting sight to behold as they would dig into the annals of history to furnish their argument with merit and authenticity.

The cars section was another world altogether. I spent time reading dispute resolution threads playing a jurist trying to determine who was right and who was wrong.

Nairaland was so interesting that I recommended it to my aunt who was above 50 then. She signed up and was always reading up on threads and news. Nairaland was a sort of online family for Nigerians. There was a sense of solidarity and respect among its users.

Fast forward 10 years later and what do I see?
Nairaland is a shadow of itself. It is unfortunate to know that Nairaland has been left alone, like an old and deserted house, waiting for the roof to cave in and the lawn to dry up.

The romance section is filled with absurdities. Out of every five threads, four are about misogyny and bashing women. It's apalling. Women are treated like stocks to be given to the highest bidder. It's repulsive and denigrating. Some monikers are already associated with spreading hate and misogyny about women.

A few days ago, a guy wrote about how he went to his ex' wedding and was reminiscing about how he and his ex used to do this and that together. It was basically a clip out of a porn clip and guess what? A mod decided to push such disgusting, childish and harebrained material to the front page.

A quick visit to the romance section (I keep referencing this section because this is where the nastiest entities on Nairaland are situated) would show you the absolute rot that plagues the mind of our young folks. If these folks have it, the womenfolk would be obliterated entirely or turned into sex slaves. Seun Osewa, is this what you want your legacy to reflect? Misogyny, hatred and insanity?

You can hardly open any thread about politics without it being a cyberwar between PO and BAT. This is not a matter of competence or leadership. People should be able to share their political views without the fear of an online mod and cyberbullying. I am NOT politically neutral, but I won't take away the right of an adult to vote by throwing verbal jabs at his/her preferred candidate.

Let's not go to the intertribal wars. That is a slap on the face of every mod and every shareholder in Nairaland. What in the world is going on? It's already an Igbos vs Yoruba fight. Where is our sense of morality? Where is our humanity? Where is our sanity? People bash other tribes without the fear of getting banned. It's an absolute disgrace to the leadership of Nairaland.

Seun, you have being a ghost long enough. Emerge from the shadows and give an explanation to this lapse in leadership. You spend more time on Twitter than you do on your creation. Nobody even sees you here anymore. If you cannot manage this sight or get competent, non-biased mods, why don't you sell it off? You'd make a handsome profit. It's better for the website to change leadership and maintain its integrity rather than for it to fall altogether to pieces.

I don't talk much on this forum but the level of gross misconduct being displayed by certain nefarious elements has brought me out of my online shell.

I don't know many mods but I'll tag the ones I know by heart. Maybe y'all should have an emergency board meeting to salvage this sinking ship called Nairaland:

The report button is a joke. I don't even bother.
I've recently been more irritated by the incessant spate of foolishness on this forum and I know you are too.

I've seen your comments on several other threads.

It's sad, and at this point, hope is no longer a response. Seun needs to address this asap.
