Anambra Polls: IPOB vow to work against Victor Umeh asThe chances of labour party candidate Victor Umeh in the 2023 Anambra Central polls has further dwindled following the vow made by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to ensure that he fails in the forthcoming coming elections.

Describing Umeh as a "charlatan", the secessionist group also cautioned the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) , to desist from using IPOB for campaign trends in the state.

Recalling his tenure as Chairman of the party , the group labelled Umeh's 16 tenure as disgraceful , wasteful and entrenched with corruption. The group further noted that though it remained non-partisan it wouldn't hesitate to mobilise its members to work against greedy politicians like Umeh who have continued to use its name to exploit its people on Biafra Land.

IPOB added that Victor Umeh having lost woefully and disgraced out of APGA following his failure to secure the party's Senatorial ticket joined the Labour Party. Reeling out his ineptitudes coupled with massive allegations of corruption and extortion during his tenure as National leader of APGA, the group asserted that Victor Umeh's Senatorial bid is dead on arrival vowing to mobilise its members' work against his election.


In a statement on Monday, by its Anambra Coordinator Chukwunonso Umejiaku , said Victor Umeh was one of the most “unfortunate” things that had happened to Igbo Land, adding that in as much as his 16 years as a National Chairman was a colossal failure, he's disgraceful loss at the APGA primaries ought to have signalled to him that he's time is up in Nigeria's Politics.


The statement read in part, " After wrecking APGA without any tangible achievement other than enriching himself, family and cronies Victor Umeh shamefully bolted to the Labour Party".

"Umeh as National Chairman played a major role in the destruction of the party. We are fully aware that Soludo's refusal to continue giving him special allocation from the state coffers was also a major reason he left APGA, a party he publicly swore to defend".

"For 16 good years Umeh used the name of our hero Odumegwu-Ojukwu and founder of APGA to defraud party members running into billions , as Chairman APGA never one a single state in the South-East simply because of Umeh's selfish nature". His tenures both as a Senator and National leader of the party, were both shambolic without any meaningful achievement for the people.

" The worst of it all is his hypocritical comments using the incarceration of our supreme leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu by the Federal Government to gain cheap Popularity by commenting on the case between MNK and the Federal government".

"In all the years of the killing of innocent Biafrans, Umeh never altered a word or condemned the evil deeds instead he was part and parcel of greed and selfishness.

" Anambrarians and Nigerians know him for who he is: a hypocrite and selfish political fraudster. He should steer clear away from IPOB as he plays his evil politics , while we call on every Biafran who will be participating in the election to reject Umeh totally.

The outlawed separatist group also reiterated that it had cancelled the sit-at-home directive in the southeastern part of Nigeria, except on the days their leader will be appearing in court. While calling on security agencies to claap down and deal decisively with hoodlums using its name to perpetrate crimes in the South East.

Chai, how the east got to this point of letting IPOB become bold enough to make such statements is sad.

Even their own people who try to talk against it are threatened and called Sabo. It's either you support or you collect.

That's the same mentality they brought into Peter Obi's campaign, that's the only speck on his campaign and he and his running mate Okukpe, have repeatedly spoken against it, PO even had to make a thread on it yesterday.

So sad, I wish them a peaceful resolution to all this.
