Fulani herdsmen and suspected Boko Haram members have caused untold hardship to the residents of Imo State as they continue to invade their farmlands and properties.

These Fulani herdsmen have continued to invade their farmlands with their cows to destroy their crops. They graze in prohibited areas and when asked to stop, it results to attacks on the host community.

Nigeria is a heterogeneous society with diverse political and social views. Attacks by armed men have increased in the South-east in recent times. The attacks often target security agencies and government facilities.
The Nigerian government has accused the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) of being responsible for the deadly attacks in the South-east. But the group has repeatedly denied their involvement in the attacks.

On September, 2021, Mr Oguchi Royal Chima and his wife Oguchi Success who are members of Eastern Security Network (ESN), military arm of IPOB, were almost killed when Imo Police pounced on IPOB members and arrested them for allegedly planning to attack government facilities. Some IPOB members were killed in the raid. Luckily, Mr and Mrs Oguchi Royal Chima escaped unhurt as they planned to kill them.

To protect their lives and for greener pastures, the couple decided to find escape routes. The couples who are both from Umuguma Owerri, Imo State are still young to pursue their dreams in life; Ugochi Royal Chima (32) and his wife Ugochi Success (19) are hardworking people who only want a better representative government.

The IPOB separatist group is leading an agitation for an independent state of Biafra to be carved out from the South-east and some parts of the South-south Nigeria.
