WHAT IS YOUR REQUEST?

On this memorial day that we are all graced to witness and celebrate, some children gathered together for a spectacular celebration and they all made their request know. Their request was submitted to the one who is capable of granting them such request, that is why I captioned this piece, what is your request? The request of these children was a very simple one, not just simple alone but timely and reasonable.

But when the chief priests and teachers of the law saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children shouting in the temple area, “Hosanna to the Son of David”, they were indignant. - Mathew 21:15 (NIV).

As a matter of fact, the Chief Priests and teachers of the law recognized the good deeds of Jesus Christ, they didn’t dispute it. Jesus Christ healed the blind and lame that came to him at the temple, he has been doing many wonders prior this day and they were all aware. The gathering of the children let alone was purpose defined, they saw the good deeds of Jesus Christ and they appreciated it by honouring and celebrating him with their shouts. Have you been able to see his good deeds? Yes, you have seen it, Have you honoured and celebrated Jesus Christ in recognition of his supernatural deeds?
What was the content of the children celebration and honour given to Jesus Christ? They actually requested of him “Hosanna, Son of David” which literarily means, Save us now, Son of David. This can be interpreted as a demand of their long time expected deliverance from the Roman empire which has been prophesied in the Scripture (Check Jeremiah 23 5 6). But it is beyond that in the literal sense, the children shouted to Jesus Christ and it is a request of freedom. The children didn’t ask amiss; they saw the need for their deliverance, they realized that their current state of being is not too good for them. I strongly believe that if the children asked wrongly, it is of high tendency that Jesus Christ would rebuke them. The Children requested for Salvation, freedom and Deliverance. If you were opportune to be among the children at that time, what would have been your request.

Although, the request of the Children made the Chief Priests and the teachers of the law upset and they rebuked them but the Children recognized that only Jesus Christ could save them. Have you identified that only Jesus Christ can save you, you need the only salvation that exists which is the salvation of Jesus Christ. Yes, you might not be happy with your current situation, you know you are in the bondage of sin, you are aware of your generation and family been enslaved by the power of darkness, you are not ignorant of some people who doesn’t want you to make the request of salvation from Jesus Christ. As we celebrate the Palm Sunday, you can also call unto Jesus Christ for you to be saved. He is ready, make yourself available for the eternal salvation.
