The All Progressives Congress chieftain in Akwa Ibom State, Blessing Agbomhere, made allegations against the state's resident electoral commissioner, Mike Igini, and petitioned the Independent National Electoral Commission for Igini's dismissal due to alleged misconduct and violations of the Electoral Act of 2022. Igini has responded to Agbomhere's claims.

Igini responded by saying that he had a name and reputation to uphold and that he would not pay attention to the outbursts.
