The Academic Staff Union of Universities has urged stakeholders to put pressure on the Federal Government to heed its requests to stop its recurrent strikes. This call has been made by a group operating under the Science for Impact Initiative.

The organisation announced this in a statement headlined "Recurrent ASUU strike: A preventable calamity" on Wednesday, noting that the organization's ongoing strikes have slowed Nigeria's educational advancement and made life challenging for both students and their parents.

On February 12, 2022, the ASUU began a warning exercise that turned into a strike. As of this writing, the strike is in its fifth month, and the union has not changed its stance regarding its demands of the government.
