IjapaTiroko: Francophones be like Europe for public utility o, for the urban areas wey get, den no use am play. Their electricity is also cheap. Our office is charged like XAF 3,400 a month for electricity that almost never goes off. Water also flowing, but you gat pay. You can't not pay! 5 Likes |

Enugu waterboard still functions, but the problem is most areas in Enugu don't get to enjoy it. And the water runs once in two weeks, in this present government. It wasn't this bad during the time of Sullivan Chime. This present government in Enugu is the worst government so far 2 Likes |

IjapaTiroko: You mean our water corporations don't work because we don't pay bills? NEPA too packed up because we don't pay bills? What about the electricity distribution companies? They too are struggling because we don't pay bills? Does it make sense that people would burst pipe to fetch water and no one would complain? Do you not realize that water needs pressure to flow, which means the neighbors and everyone else down the road would speak out because bursting the pipe reduces the rate water flows to their homes, if it ever flows at all? Blame the government for running the water and electricity stations down. People in the US, UK, and every other country where water and electricity are available owe billions of dollars, euros, and pounds in bills and they still have them. 4 Likes |

The one in Bayelsa. It's the mairuwa that supply water to the water board. They rely on mairuwa for their water supplies, which water do you want them to supply to the public? Nigeria government is a fraud 5 Likes |

Odin13:Kaduna resident here, saying it functions is a bit of a stretch - it's crumbling and in a state of emergency! Nobody who knows a thing or two about health and wellness would drink what kaduna water board calls tap water, at best one use it for laundry or to water a flower. Even a school kid knows colourlessness is a basic quality of water, not so much for those at Waterboard. Little wonder folks are building boreholes left, right and center. 3 Likes |

Shoodboi:It's usually dirty when it just starts running. It wasn't stable, maybe like a week or so, then it would stop, so whenever it starts running it would be very dirty for hours or even days, word on the street was that they're washing the pipe. But once it becomes clean, it's going to remain clean till it stops running again. 3 Likes |

IjapaTiroko: Wow! True talk. We created this problem by our own selves. In a saner/normal environment, the landlords, community leaders/elders are supposed to guard against any sabotage of the water supply. Sadly, they're part of the problem. How I envy those places you just mentioned where the system works for the general good. That's why this looks like abnormalities to anyone who's experienced the better side of life outside the shores of Naija. 2 Likes |

Enugu state water not functioning. It has been killed by Gburugburu. The governor now sell tanker water to resident. The worst is that they bill resident 8k monthly for the water they didn't consume . It is terrible. |

kunlegboye: It may be that the size/population of Nigeria is too much for our leaders to run/govern. More often than not, those countries with lesser populations like BR, Ghana, Senegal, etc, tend to have functional public utilities. |

This thread brought some nostalgic feeling, remembering my bustling and lively Onitsha of the 80s. For those that lived around GRA, Holy Trinity, Old and New Market roads and adjoining streets close to Holy Trinity, pipe borne water was a regular thing, with its distinct taste because of Nkisi waterworks that pumps water to homes. Those of us that schooled in any of the primary schools around Holy Trinity will attest to regular pipe borne water from their school taps, getting home, we usually use hose pipe to fill up our tanks. Nigeria is degenerating instead of progressing but the stupid youths will be here hauling insults to themselves on top politicians that do not care about their future. 2 Likes |

spencekat:Calabar used to have sparkling clean water 24/7 until Ayade came. It took less than 2 years of his 'administration' for the taps to run dry. People were taken by suprise as there were barely any boreholes. The guy is the most dismal failure. I came back to meet an unrecognizable town. 3 Likes 1 Share |
