My Car Remote Key Starter Is No Longer Working by Skyfornia(m): 7:41pm On Jul 18, 2022
I have a Corolla sport 2010 model that came with just 1 key and a remote key, the remote key only does one work, to start and turn off engine.

But I decided to get a spare key that can start, open door, and trunk Incase the main key is not within reach. Since I bought the spare key, the remote key has stopped working.

I took the car back today to the guy that programmed the spare key, he said there's nothing he can do, that the car can only recognize two keys and not more.

I don't know if I'm making sense with my explanation, I really want the remote key to work cause sometimes I can comfortably start my car from inside my apartment to warm the engine if I'm not going out for the day.. now I cannot do that again.

Any suggestion please?

You mean a remote start. This needs to be reprogrammed. Care to share a picture?

The car can recognise up to 4 keyfobs.

Yes.. I thought as much, probably the blacksmith knowledge is limited. Attached is the remote start.

Online search shows that it is a Pursuit product. Can you see if it shares the same ID with the picture attached?

The good thing is that you can programme it yourself. I guess the starter synced out after reprogramming the keyfobs.

For your remote starter to work, your car has what is called a immobilizer bypass, inside it is a chip which the car recognizes, enabling it to start without a key in the ignition, the locksmith has deleted it from the memory , most likely when u press the remote starter it will attempt to crank a number of times then stop because it's failing to see the chip inside the bypass. Tell your locksmith to identify the bypass module and remove the chip, add it to the memory of the car and return it back into the bypass, u car will be back to its original state. The second option is if he unknowningly deleted the remote starter from the memory of the car, that one is quite simple, google how to add the remote back to the car, usually they are added manually without a scan tool, check online u will find it.
