Gov. Mimiko And Protesting Pupils by ade4love: 10:35pm On Jul 29, 2011
Ondo state gov. Dr Olusegun Mimiko could not belief his eyes this morning (friday july 28,2011) when pupils of st, michael secondary school storm his office with varoius shapes of sticks and leaves caling for his immediate resignation.
The students who trekked the over 8km road down to the govt house told the security men at the govt house that they want to flog the gov. since all appeals on him by royal and religious leaders failed saying . we think the only language the medical doctor turn politician will understand is cane and not appeal
They were however directed to governors office only to be prevented by securitymen from seeing the governor. Since all the commissioners were sacked the previous day and workers went on strike, only two permanent secretaries were on hand to address the protesters but when the perm sec told the pupils that the governor was out of town the protesters chased them away with sticks and palm fronts not minding the threats from the police to shoot.
Although the governor was watching them from the cctv in his office, he refuse to come out as the pupils blocked the main gates for over 6hours shouting OLE. THIEF.
They ask the security men at the gate, CAN THE GOVERNOR BECOME WHAT HE IS TODAY IF HE DID NOT GO TO SCHOOL.
They claimed that they were doing their promotion examination around 9am when officials of NLC came to disrupt the exams
Armed policemen drafted to take charge of the situation did not harm the pupils despite threats to break the gate but were only preventing Journalists from taking pictures of the urgly incident. The Chief Press Secretary to the gov.Mr. Bisi Kolawole later called the correspondents in the state for an emergency media parley were a special message in brown envelops from the gov. were passed to them,He describe the action as the handy work of opposition party.workers in ondo state had embark on three strike actions within a month.
