The origin of wearing saree can be traced back to the ancient times when it was a common practice for Indian women to wear a single piece of cloth draped around their bodies. The modern day sarees is usually made up of a six yard long fabric that is draped over the body, with one end tucked into the waistband and then pleated or gathered at the other end, which is worn over one shoulder or held in place by a belt.
