Leadership deficit Nigeria’s greatest undoing – Obi

As reported by John Alechenu & Fortune Eromosele, Abuja

The Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, has expressed sadness that God has given Nigeria all it requires to be great but that the absence of purposeful leadership has made it impossible for the nation to reach its potentials.

Obi spoke at a leadership summit organized by the Labour Party and Coalition for Peter Obi Leadership, in Abuja, on Thursday.
He explained that the Obi/Datti ticket has a mission which is to return the nation back to its citizens.

Obi said, “Our job is to take the power from those who have it and give it back to you.
“We have a country called Nigeria, but we don’t have Nigerians, what we want to do is create Nigerians and the only way to create Nigerians is that we must make people have faith in Nigeria.

“This is a great country, God gave us everything that can make this country great, the only thing that is lacking is one simple thing called leadership.
“And that is what we intend to provide, we are not trying to do something else. This is what Datti and I want to provide.

“Like I always say, don’t think once we succeed our job has stopped, that is when our job has really started. Beyond 2023 we will no longer allow drivers that don’t know where we are going.
“We will remove that driver, we will not allow him continue, we will remove him and put another driver.

“What is happening now in Nigeria is, you don’t know where you are going, the driver doesn’t know where the vehicle is going, so every road leads us there, but we don’t want to worry. All we want to say 2023, we will not allow that situation, for now, we will manage it to the end.“
Speaking about precarious economic situation Nigeria has found itself, the LP candidate said, “As I speak to you only about 47 million Nigerians are working, so 73 million Nigerians are not doing anything. 60 percent of your population ought to be productive.

“We live in a country where over 15 million of our young people are out of school. Today, the global average for tertiary institution intake is 38 percent, in the western world, it is over 50 percent.
In Nigeria it is nine percent, not even up to a quarter of the global average and yet they are not in school. We live in a country where 200 million people exist on 4,000 mega watts of electricity.

“Let me tell you how bad it is, the second biggest country in this continent, Africa, is South Africa.

“They generate about 50,000 mega watts of electricity and just last week, the President of South of Africa declared an emergency on poor electricity generation and said every citizen can generate up to 100 mega watts of electricity without license.

“With 50,000 mega watts they declared emergency and people who are generating only 4,000 mega watts, no emergency.”

On reckless borrowings, he said, “Governments at all levels in Nigeria have borrowed over N225 trillion. N200 trillion because some were borrowed when dollars was 100, 200. Since it’s about 600 now, I used an average of 400.
“That means if you divide 200 trillion by 400 it will give you approximately $500 billion.

20 percent of $500 billion is $100 billion. Tony Elumelu foundation said, that for every $5 million they give to an entrepreneur, that entrepreneur creates ten jobs.

“That means if we had taken just 20 percent of the money we borrowed for the past 20 years, $100 billion and shared it to 20 million entrepreneurs, half of the job Tony Elumelu said will be five times 20 million, it would be 100 million and there won’t be unemployment.

“We are going to move Nigeria from consumption to production they said how, Nigeria is not a producing country, Nigeria has one of the most talented and energetic youths in the world.“

On agriculture

Obi said, “In an interview I had yesterday, they asked me about Borno State. I said Borno State is a state situated on 17.9000 square kilometres of land. Today we are talking about Sambisa forest, Sambisa forest is an asset to Nigeria, it is twice the size of Israel. It is an agricultural land that can give us food.

“I said if you go all over the north, Nigeria is blessed, we have all the land we need. We are waiting to share the money from oil, how much can we make from oil.“

We will educate 110 million Nigerians — Baba-Ahmed

On his part, Vice Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Senator Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, if elected, he would personally drive the education of 110 million Nigerians.

He said, “It is the legitimate ambition of our great party to develop education in Nigeria. Personally till date, I have been instrumental in one way or another in the education of at least 11,000 people. It remains my dream for the remaining days I have to live, I and my leader and party to educate at least 110 million Nigerians.

“I joined this party and sided with my leader because of Nigeria, that is because of our national unity and building our youths. We are in the business of education ourselves.”

“He further stated that the problem of Nigeria is wrong leaders, adding that much investment would be made for youths to have gainfully employed jobs.

“I have been asked what have we been doing wrong, and I humbly replied, we’ve been electing the wrong leaders. In that process of electing the wrong leaders our beloved Nigeria youths have been by design and policy forcefully confused, distracted and deprived, this is what we are yet to change.

“Our youths have been underestimated, His Excellency Peter Obi and my humble self, we are here to restore your honour, give you back the dignity taken away from you, we want to give you education and discipline.

“We are not looking for government in money, we are looking to run a government in money, that money is here in Nigeria, I am following a business leader who knows how to create wealth and we are going to create it legitimately,” he said.

How can a terribly sick man save a terribly sick country?

It takes the action of a few reasonable persons to make the whole nation better. Think and use your brain for the betterment of all. I support Obi and I'm not saying he is a saint but he is clearly the best option the political parties have provided for us now. We can't continue to deceive ourselves. We have suffered enough and ought to be wise. It will shock you to know I'm from the North Central.

As for me, Buhari's government and the attendant sufferings, pains and deaths are enough to reset our brains and shift our reasoning from tribalism, religion to true nationalism, love and nation-building.

I have an issue with Tinubu as a person and it has nothing to do with his tribe even though some of his people are making Tinubu's presidency a Yoruba thing and it is working against him here in the north. I would have ignored other bad sides of Tinubu but his health is such a serious challenge no reasonable person can ignore. He is also a crafty old man who divides the home he should build. He behaves like a rogue arrogating power to himself and laying dangerous examples.

The stage we are now in Nigeria is very precarious and we don't need any leader who is not responding to questions about his life and not talking to Nigerians about his ability to solve our elephantine problems. Tinubu just wants us to look at what he did in Lagos some blurry years ago and vote him. That is the most dangerous thing to do. It shows we're not learning. Remember, most people sold Buhari to us based on his past integrity, prudence and discipline but the reverse is the case now. It's dangerous to live in the past.

The most disturbing is that everything about Nigeria is crumbling fast. Our lives are in grave danger of insecurity and economic nosedives. We can't deny that Nigeria is terribly sick and it's suicidal to employ a terribly sick man to save a terribly sick country. The whole world will see us a foolish people and may forestall any appeal for help. Most of the foreign commissioners visiting the presidential candidates are only carrying out preliminary assessments. How do you feel after visiting Tinubu as a foreign commissioner? Will you believe Nigerians are normal?

Atiku appears healthier and more knowledgeable than Tinubu and that raises the questions of who is older, more open and responsive to the questions Nigerians are asking? The biggest odd against him is his region being a Northerner taking power from another northerner. It is the highest abberation to our unity. His corruption cases are as messy as dog-shits but Nigerians seem not to respect credibility and honesty. Tribes and religion override them in Nigerian politics.

So let's vote wisely and let who you vote next year do not bring pains, suffering to the rest of us. Use your conscience to prove your love for Nigeria. God help Nigeria and give us the best leader.

Nigeria's problems go beyond leadership but a very useless parasitic foundation that concentrates power and all resources in the hands of a central govt.

I did a post yesterday highlighting that Obi remains a scam as he is not interested in restructuring but sees leadership as the major panacea.

This I highlighted , was a sure sign on the Igbo position of being totally against any talk of state autonomy which they destroyed in 1966
for their selfish interests.

He's right!

No he is not.

He has only proven me right about him being a prime candidate for Igbo agenda

See this thread

Peter Obi Like All Igbos Does Not Believe In Restructuring And State Autonomy
Why would he?

The SE survives on Federal handouts . A situation that was envisioned by Zik's Marxist centrist govt.

Did you hear him speak on State fiscal autonomy ? Never!

Dave Umahi is at least honest that his Ebonyi can't survive without Nigeria with federal handouts and so he rejected the Zionist Biafran project which he says will only see to his state becoming worse off financially .

So like every Igbo politician , do not expect Peter Obi to campaign on full state fiscal autonomy because his parasitic yeast would be the greatest tragedy if this was to be implemented.

Zik had warmed Igbo delegates and members of the old defunct eastern region parliament that an exit of the minority region from the old eastern region will see the region the poorest and employed all Igbo MPs to resist any attempt to see to the so-called minorities leaving the eastern region. When the matter went to the Federal Parliament owing to the Igbo dominated house stubbornly refusing to have the minorities present their case, the Igbos did the most unimaginable foolishness and assassinated all leaders of other regions including the PM who had thrown their weight behind the Minorities in the eastern region. The rest is history but history worth revisiting because it shows how desperate the Igbo man is to keep being fed by others and how their greatest nightmare is to be left to their own device. We do know that Igbos opened secret back door channels to get Gowon to integrate them back into Nigeria after the Niger Delta parts were liberated.

So from all indications, the Igbo have shown historically that they can not in anyway or form run their states without federal handouts. We saw the deadly silence from the Yeast after Wike's court victory over FIRS in collection of VAT revenue. Every other southern state governor applauded the judgement other than the Igbo governors .

Then there is the Igbo position on oil derravitive to oil producing states which they have always sided with the north . They kicked against OBJ's 25% derivative using third term as an excuse to throw both the baby and dirty water away. They sided with the north over the now settled onshore offshore dichotomy. A court ruled that the territorial waters are first the boundaries of the state and then the FG. Without that ruling, Akwa Ibom would still have been massively underdeveloped since all the oil revenue it gets comes from offshore oil wells.
Let me not even talk about the disastrous PIB that Igbos sided with the north to make rubbish of.

So how does Peter Obi intend to fix the system that he is very comfortable working with?

Does Peter Obi think that the problem is solely leadership despite the obvious being the very shaky and unfair system?

As long as Peter Obi refuses to address the issue of restructuring , treat him like your typical Igbo Abuja based contractor turned politician.

You are travelling in a vehicle and all of a sudden the driver somehow manages to get all four tyres deflated when he runs into a deep pothole.

The driver exits the vehicle in hopes of getting the tyres replaced.

All of a sudden, a man appears and tells you he can drive you to your destination that he is a very skilled driver. You point to him that all the tyres are bad but he insists tyres are overrated and being the very best of drivers he will get you to your destination without the tyres.

This is Peter Obi.

He, like all Igbo politicians and their general Igbo political outlook are not interested in rescinding the useless centrist federal arrangement that has come to usurp powers and functions reserved for states.

Why? Because they are the architects of the modern Nigerian Marxist centrist state that was the vision of their Zik.

Peter Obi thinks he is smarter than everyone else and thinks he can make do with the dysfunctional system like our driver that tells you he will drive you to your destination without tyres.

The man and his DisObidient mob are just another Igbo project towards parasitically benefiting from a system they have long been kept from the very helms.

Do not fall for people like obi.
