AMBASSADOR OGBUEWU CONSOLES THE FAMILY OF LATE JUSTICE O'CONNELL OGBONNA

The former Minister of Culture and Tourism, and the Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for Ebonyi Central Senatorial District, Ambassador Frank Nchita Ogbuewu, was on Friday, stormed the official residence of the President of the Customary Court of Appeal, Abakaliki, to console the family of Late Justice O'Connell Ogbonna.

Ambassador Ogbuewu while signing the condolence register, described the deceased, Rt Honourable Justice O’Connell Uche Ogbonna, as an unfeigned luminary in the temple of justice, whose egress has created a big vacuum, that will be very arduous to fill in the judicial system of Ebonyi State.

The incoming Senator, while consoling the family of the departed Justice, asked them to take solace on the Lord, and for the fact that the Late Justice, lived a life that's worthy of emulation. He further prayed that God will grant them the fortitude to bear the loss, grant Ebonyi, another Justice O’Connell Ogbonna, and for the soul of the departed Justice to rest in perfect peace.

Late Justice O'Connell Ogbonnaya hails from Agukpobe Amegu, Izzi in Abakaliki Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. He studied Law at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, and graduated in 1990, and in 1991, he was called to bar. Between 1992 – 1996, he worked in the Ministry of Justice, Enugu, and when Ebonyi State was created in 1996, he also worked in the ministry till 2004.

Late Justice O'Connell Ogbonna was the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) in Ebonyi State from 2002 – 2004 , and on November 16th, 2004, he got an appointment as the Judge of Ebonyi State Judiciary Customary Court of Appeal. On August 16th, 2012, he received another appointment, as the Acting President of the Customary Court of Appeal, and was later sworn in as the substantive President of the Customary Court of Appeal, Ebonyi State on 16th January, 2013. Until his death, he was the President of the Customary Court of Appeal, Ebonyi State.

The incoming Senator, Ambassador Ogbuewu, was accompanied to the condolence visit by the wife, and the immediate past Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Ebonyi State, Chief Mrs Rebecca Ogbuewu. Read more:
