ASUU And Corruption, just another Branch Of The Nigerian System by JJuanMiguel: 8:35am On Aug 20, 2022 |
There have been numerous arguments for ASUU by the lecturers themselves and their sympathisers, on why they need to be paid for the period of their 6 months sit at home citing the fact that there are other activities they render apart from lecturing. That some of them have been doing this and that during the strike. But here, they are being contradicted by their own memo where the strike was tagged "Total and comprehensive" and were directed not to do anything at all for the duration of the strike. Yes, this government is evil and insensitive. But don't be deceived by ASUU constant play of the victim card, they are corrupt arrogant and self centered too. The Minister of education mentioned one salient point about IGR, especially in Federal universities. In the school farms for example, the majority of the universities make millions of naira per week from crops and livestocks, this is where the university managements use Students as labourers in the guise of SIWES, IT or "farm year" Some schools of Center for Dry Land Agriculture. People who are conversant with Agric know what that means, Bakery Printing press Table water Etc Just how much do you think they are generating from all these per year, and note that they are not remitting this revenues to the government. Schools even rent out their auditoriums/lecture halls for events especially during weekends, even as students you have to pay huge money 100k-200k to the DSA to get access to certain venues to host an event on campus. What about the rents they collect from those who have their businesses on campus.

Cloetrish:No need to swear for them, other university unions are suspending their strikes now. Even students are already fed up, very soon everyone will leave ASUU alone. I don't even see FG calling them for a meeting anytime soon. |
