Fraudsters in India opened a fake police station and worked in it for eight months, writes the Guardian.

They extorted money from those who applied to the "precinct" for help, and also actively took "bribes" for various services.

Hundreds of people became victims.

The scammers wore police uniforms and carried real weapons. Interestingly, the fake police station was equipped just 500 meters from the house of the real police chief.

At least six gang members have been arrested, but the ringleader is still at large.
