My take from this game.

Arteta's use of inverted full backs: Zinchenko tucking into the midfield when Arsenal is in possession to create an overload, drag Utd's midfield narrow and provide an extra man through the channels... Granted, this helps with the build up and it works most of the time.

Pep Guardiola first implemented this style at Bayern Munich with Alaba and Lahm tucking in. And now at City you see Walker and Cancelo doing same when city are in possession.

But here's the catch: You are taking a huge risk using this system against a team with pacey attackers & visionary midfielders like Eriksen and Bruno who can play precise passes into the half spaces & behind. United's goals all came from balls played into spaces. Specifically, Anthony's goal came from the space vacated by Zinchenko because he tucked inside.

City suffered against Newcastle as well partly to this until Pep switched it up.

Arteta should show more tactical flexibility and switch things up depending on each opponents strengths and weaknesses.

Overall, Arsenal played really well. They look well drilled. Just a little naive tactically. But a good game nonetheless. Hopefully they learn from this.
