As a child, you may have been taught by your parents to treat others as you would like to be treated. This is known as the Golden Rule.

It is sometimes referred to as the reciprocity ethic. It means acting cooperatively and in a way, that benefits everyone.

Sometimes the Golden Rule is stated negatively: don't treat others the way you wouldn't want to be treated.
