Caterpillar, most likely to grow into a moth!

Moth larvae are usually the ones with elaborate features and colours like this one has. Funny the actual moths are ugly/scary looking themselves.

It's a caterpillar. That's the larval stage of butterflies and moths. However, this one is likely to be a butterfly because of the hairless body.

I believe it's a butterfly caterpillar. Moth caterpillars normally have 'pines', hairs or some sort of projections from thier body. They're almost never this smooth. And yes, they might be ugly, but they're harmless and so soft.
